One top pairing RD turns them into a contender. Obviously, that's hard to find but they are closer than people think.

The guy put up 99 points last year and by the end of the contract the salary cap will be much higher than it is now. He will probably be a much lesser player by then but I don’t think it will hurt like everyone thinks it will

5th most secondary assists in the league and wasn't very impressive analytically. Also it's paying him 8 Million until he's 37 coming off of 1 elite season.

I think everyone has been ignoring him for 2 seasons. He was point per game 3 years ago, about 0.85-0.9 ppg two years ago and then had 99 points last year.

If I were referring to him by his scoring last year I would call him a 99 pt player. I called him point per game as thats been roughly what he's been over the last 3 years

Last 2 years are probably tough. But he's the motor that drives that team. Good signing for the Canucks forward group, future captain if... When Horvat doesn't resign.

Lets put it this way

Miller joined Vancouver 3 years ago. In those 3 years ago

Huberdeau 3rd place 204 Gp 73 g 254 pts
Gaudreau 10th place 208 GP 77 g 222 pts
Miller 12th place 202 gp 74 g 217 pts

Anyone hating this deal better hate their deals too. And he's the most physical of them and plays c

It’s a meh deal, Miller’s been good during his time in Vancouver but don’t expect much more than a 70-80point guy

A 70-80 pt player would make someone a top scorer on about half the teams in the league. And costs about 8-9 mil in today's Ufa environment

I'm sorry to tell you guys this but he's never putting up these numbers ever again. voted no

He was in the top 15 scoring for the past three seasons. This wasn't an anomaly.

If he can keep up the point per game pace he's been on here it's a good contract, but years 5-7 of that contact are going to hurt

It might not. By the time we get there, the salary cap should be well north of $90 million, so percentwise, it won't be a real anchor.

Considering you're a Canucks fan, you're very likely to overate them going into the season, but I don't even see them making the playoffs this year.

They were on a 102-point pace with Boudreau last year IF you ignore half of his record-setting winning streak to start the season. They nearly made the playoffs despite their start under Green. What makes you think they will get worse this year?

Im sure the last 2 years of the deal are going to hurt..but he is a ppg player and a great leader. If the Nucks are ever going to win a cup- its because of guys like him (and not who they traded him for).
8mil in 7 years might be the norm for a decent 2nd liner by then.

JT will be collecting a pension by the time Canucks are relevant...
GM should of allocated $$$/term to youth & not vets making the turn on the back nine.

This is a fantastic deal for the Canucks and JTM. Thought he would get about $9Mx8. $16M in savings factoring in he won't be making $9M when he is 37.
This halts the incessant clowns from offering their team's hot garbage for a top player. Still some room to resign those on expiring contracts.

The Canucks were .649 winning percentage under Boudreau. That's not a fringe team.

He'd get a 1st + at least 1 very good prospect at the TD. There's not really a market for players with cap right now.

Should have sold him last TDL

Someone would have gave a 1st + 2 good prospects for him with 50% ret and then Canucks could have went and robbed VGK or CBJ of OB or Patches but its the JR show and he often does this stuff. Probs was like k Alvin if he wants this amount sign him if not trade him for whateves im done and wont worry about it till he either sees a decline in production or other issues

Last 2 years? They'll be lucky if it doesn't hurt year 3 of his contract. Guys that play his style of game don't age well. If he's 32 and still PPG i'd be amazed.

I can't believe there are so many people voting no. He's been Vancouver's best player since his arrival and they are likely a playoff team this season. This is a steal.

His deal doesn't kick in until he's 30 years old. You're not paying him when he's in his prime. You're paying him past his prime. He's a big physical player. Those guys don't age well. If he was 24 years old it would be a steal.

You can say a lot of the same thing about the Gaudreau contract. Gaudreau only scored 5 more points over the last three seasons, but he is getting paid 20% more and is only 1 year younger at the time the contract kicks in. The Gaudreau contract is rated nearly 90% positive while this one is 40% positive. Nope. Not rational.

Adding Mikheyev replaces the void left by Toffoli. Lazar’s a plus. They just need another Dman.

Garland already replaced the Toffoli void
