Lot of money tied up in McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo, Grzelcyk, Forbort, and Reilly. You can't spend all your cap space on D-men and expect to score enough goals to win enough games.
Sweeney is awful at drafting. Latest draft pick that played a game for the Bruins was drafted in 2017.
Pretty simple answer I'm sure you're looking for since you're trying to break this down Barney-style in order to comprehend it with your cognitive ability.
LMAO Is he bad at drafting or just throws all his draft picks out the window with the kitchen sink? 2017 wasn't that long ago prospect development wise. Players drafted by in in the in the 2nd half of 2020's 1st round and back are only just starting to enter the NHL now. That leaves just 2-3 draft years. 2018, 2019, and maybe 2020. Generally later round prospects aren't expected to make it at all so that leaves your higher round picks as realistic options. That's 3 picks in the 1st 2 rounds across 3 drafts. 1 was traded, 1 is struggling, and 1 is progressing well albeit playing in NCAA.
As for your defense. Generally in a rebuild winning more games is worse, correct me if I'm wrong though. And again Grzelcyk, Forbert, Reilly, and Zboril are all going to be pending UFA's. Girard is strictly younger than all but 1 of them (Zboril) and a clear upgrade on all of them. Then there is the idea that all 4 of those players can be flipped for more value as well. Or is that idea too hard for you to comprehend.

They won't trade him as a rental at the deadline.
And it's this statements like this that are stupid. There is a very solid chance that Boston simply doesn't make the playoffs this season, Bergeron and Krejci retire, and Pasta walks in the offseason. saying "nope they wont him" is being completely ignorant to a very possible reality. Maybe instead of bluntly refusing to trade him entertain the concept a little. This is a trade board after all and him being moved is quite realistic
