Chara on the 2nd pairing, The guy is toast and slow as molasses.

Outside of Hedman that LD would be crushed on a nightly basis.

Yeah Perunivich isn't a TB Defenseman every bolt Defenseman is 6'+ 200lbs+. He is 5'9" 172 lbs not happening. Btw are you trying to see if you can get an early lottery pick?
Wtf would you sign Moses I mean Chara he's only old as Moses.

Heh. And you think this is the main issue in that deal? Tampa takes this and runs.

Just 12m in retention? Might as well ask for the max.

No they don't think you're way over valueing a 31-37 year old Schenn VERY F**ING DRASTICALLY. Even with the retention next year they can't do the extensions signed . They under no circumstance can afford a 4.6 mil winger this is awful for TB. They don't do dwarf Defenseman and can't take 6 years of Schenn. , Everyone but he'd about killers 0 in goals in the playoffs he had the same goal total as Schenn . This would be absolutely moronic

I'd love to see Yours it is terrible for TB. Even at 4.3 TB CAN BARELY ICE A 20 MAN roster in 23/24with him on it 15 players with 6.1 million in cap space yeah easy pass.so TB would have to loose a 25year old Colton and take an extremely undersized defenseman (which isn't the TB way). It really is very bad deal in the long term for them.

First off the blues aren't retaining 2 mill for 6 years on Schenn. The Getting a first/Myers/Bell isn't that attractive for us if we are trading Schenn and Perunovich and retaining. Killorn is only signed for 1 more year and is older than Schenn. This doesn't really help us at all

It's also really bad for the blues longterm. We have to sign Kyrou, Barbashev, and ROR next season and you think we are going to retain on Schenn?

I never said you should , however there is no part of this that benefits TB. It is bad for both. So go ahead and pay Schenn 6.3 until he's 37 Good luck with that.

We will be fine paying him till he's 37. It's better than retaining 2 million and having to pay a replacement player another 4-5 million on top of that to replace the production he provides

Both sides decline. There's nothing coming back from Tampa that comes remotely close to the value the Blues are sending back (1 year of Killorn kind of replaces Schenn's production in St. Louis, sure, but Bellemare is an old 4th liner, Myers looks like a 6th/7th D at best, Koepke is a non-prospect at this point, and what's likely a late 1st three years from now isn't all that valuable). Schenn is the most productive player in this deal, and Perunovich is a legit prospect at this point. The package Tampa's sending is nowhere near the value needed, and that's before you get to the fact that you're asking the Blues to retain 6x$2M on Schenn's deal.

But even though Tampa isn't paying much in assets, they still pass. I'd wager that the Cirelli/Sergachev/Cernak extensions this summer were based partly on the fact that Killorn/Bellemare fall off the cap next summer and the idea that Myers' cap hit dropping from $2.55M to $1.4M(and any cap increase). While Schenn makes the team better, even at $4.5M AAV they'd have to move another piece to keep him on board, and it's never great to make a trade that forces you to make another trade - and looking at their cap, it would probably be multiple moves because the only guys making an AAV higher than $4.5M are Point/Kuch/Stamkos/Cirelli in the forward group and Sergachev/Hedman/Cernak in the D. And even past that the next highest AAV is Nic Paul's $3.15M, and I can't imagine trying to move him one year into a 7 year deal.

I agree with basically everything you said here... but Killorn would need to be replace next summer anyway, and the Lightning ain't exactly swimming in NHL ready forward prospects these days. Schenn slots directly into his salary slot with the retention, and that cap hit will lower in effect as the cap ceiling starts rising again. Even if they truly would not want Perunovich because of his size, he can certainly be dealt for a decent futures return, so it would be silly for Tampa to pass on this IMHO.

Then what do they do with Colton if they slide by then a 32 year old schenn there until he's 37? A 31/32 year old schenn isn't worth giving up a 25/26year old Colton.
