Man this team does not look great. They have some good pieces but ouch. Their dcorp is not good enough. This is a bubble team in my mind. I could be wrong, but I don't see it.

They need one more top pairing left D and one more top 4 right D. (I don't think Subban is that and I don't think he is worth 3m). I would say he is a 6/7 d.

Is Backstrom out for good? or will he return at some point? I know Wilson is out for like half a season or something.

Subban doesn't have much left, he isn't an upgrade on Jensen and he's definitely not worth $3M.

Whooooooof hard pass. Jensen is a top pairing defensive defensemen. Moving him out for nothing then adding Subban for anything about league minimum is a huuuuge loss.

This team definitely looks bad but this person has no idea how to make it. If you put together good lines and pairings they look like a strong team.

The two D you’re talking about are Feheravy and Jensen. Not sure where Feheravy went? Subban for Jensen is a massive downgrade and idk why they’d pay somebody more who is worse while treating a very effective and good contract in Jensen as a cap dump.

Also no McM is a head scratcher. Jojo on the first line is silly too.

Backy is likely done but Strome should do just fine replacing him. Top 9 until Wilson comes back is a combo of Kuzy Strome Eller Ovi Mantha Sheary McM Osh Brown which is a pretty deep group. Dowd Hathaway and whoever is a solid 4th line. Plus when Wilson comes back you’re getting even deeper as you add a legit top 6 player.

Plus goaltending improved substantially. I think this guy just did a poor job laying the team out which is fine, assume he doesn’t know a ton about the caps.

Nick Jensen is easily the Caps best defensive defenseman...trading him away for nothing makes no sense.

Also no playoff contending team should be signing Subban and no team period should be signing him for 3 mil....

I agree with you Subban would fit well on the caps. His game fits their system. I would keep Orlov-Jensen and put Subban on the 3rd Pairing with TVR. But then put him in Carlson’s spot on the 2nd PP and that’s where he will see him shine. Most people don’t realize that he still has just as good of a shot and he can still run a PP well. People don’t realize because through most of his time in NJ they never really have him consistent PP time because they didn’t know what they were doing and they misused him causing him to produce way less then he could have if they used him right

I'm not opposed to subban at league min but I think if he would take that they or someone else would've signed him already. They already got Gustafsson and to a lesser extent Carlsson at league min to fill those roles though. Jensen is one of the most criminally underrated players in the league and I honestly think that even if they were offered a first for him they wouldn't do it -- zero chance they pay to move him as a cap dump.

Fehervary-Carlson
Orlov-Jensen
Gustafsson-TVR

which all things considered is pretty good
