2 Big Trades and 1 Small Signing

Description
Calgary doesn't want to trade Anderson. Leafs don't want to trade Nylander. Both teams trade from a point of strength to address a need.
Vancouver would really need to like Sandin to make this deal. I am very high on Sandin personally. He has a great combination of skill, toughness and he is young.

Leafs get bigger, stronger, tougher to play against but lose some good pieces.
Vancouver gets 2 young assests in the 1st and Sandin and they can either keep Kerfoot and extend him or sell him at the deadline.
Calgary gets a substantial forward upgrade and their dcorp is still extremely good without Andersson.

ZAR would be perfect for their 4th line.

Canucks decline; good start just feel they'd want a bit more value especially with adding Schenn

Vancouver declines. Kerfoot is a cap dump, we're all set on LD and a late 1st round pick doesn't get Miller with retained salary and Schenn.

Canucks pass. They don’t need Sandin they need a RHD. Personally I’d prefer Liljegren but Niemela is acceptable

I will add any prospect not named Niemela and Knies to this package. (Amirov is off the table because of his health). If Niemela or Knies are in this, remove Sandin.

I don’t think Kerfoot is a cap dump. He’s a solid middle 6 player who’s salary we’d probably need to take back in a Miller to TOR trade. He doesn’t have much value but I wouldn’t say it’s negative

Most times he is worth a 2nd. Deadline half retained he could MAYBE fetch a 1st. Right now... so hard to tell but I guess anywhere from 2nd round pick to future considerations. I assume a 3rd round pick right now. Definitely not negative value though. I agree with you for sure!

Yeah honestly all that I'd add would be someone like Nick Robertson or Hirvonen or another pick

If Vancouver does this trade they would try Sandin on the right. He only played 1 game on the right for the Leafs this past year though. So Sample size was too small to see how effective he is. Good, skilled dmen who has some physicality to his game (go look at the video of him blowing up Wheeler in his rookie year).

Like I said in the description, Vancouver would need to be very high on Sandin to make this trade.

Kerfoot is far from a cap dump IMO, he's quite underrated and would actually be a solid piece coming back

We have more than enough forwards as it is, If Toronto has to move him to make the deal work, then he's a cap dump.

He would replace Miller on your current roster. (Clearly a downgrade over Miller) but he would slot in on the left wing on one of your top 3 lines (depending on chemistry) OR 3C. I am personally not high on Kerfoot as a C though based on his faceoff percentage but he has that flexibility if there are injuries.

Easily? I doubt that. They may decline but they would definitely have a team meeting about this one first.

He'll be a UFA at the end of the season, he's not a good center and we have lots of middle 6 wingers already. It makes no sense for Vancouver to trade for him. If he was included in a trade with Vancouver, it would be so Toronto could make cap space and that's a cap dump IMO.

not all pieces added to a trade that are for cap purposes are negative value dumps though. Vancouver would not see him as a negative value dump. They would look at him as a useful tool that they can either keep and extend OR sell off at the deadline if he remains healthy for a decent pick.

As a Leaf fan I am all in on this.

Sandin is the better of the 2 pieces in my mind. He has crazy amount of potential and has shown he can play in the NHL. I will happily swap Sandin out and add Niemela.

A major downgrade on Miller. He'd likely be the 4th line LW as we have lots of wingers currently. But you are correct that Kerfoot is not a good center, he's a decent winger but we don't need that.

Ok, he's not negative value, he's just no value and takes up cap space as far as Vancouver is concerned.

Ain't no way the Flames are trading the two four years of Anderson for the two years of the more expensive Nylander. And you want Dube and more cap for Flames?
Other teams should value Miller, a lot more than Leafs. Really I can't see a Miller trade till closer to TDL when his cap and teams who really think need him will bid for him.

lol, Kerfoot would have been 5th in scoring for canuck forwards last year with no power play time and had a whole 1 point less than Boeser and Horvat. Guess every canuck forward but 2 are cap dumps
