The value was from a delusional NHL exec and was immediately refuted by another GM who had actual interest and conversations with Hughes about Dvorak. He even said “If he is playing a 200-foot game then he can be really effective and I think rotate between the second or third slot up the middle,” the source said. “I hope your other source is right though and we don’t have to give up more than a third for him.” which indicates just how ridiculous the other GM was being. Knowing how things work in the NHL the first GM was probably from Toronto, Ottawa, Carolina or Boston trying to run down the Habs players values due to their rivalries. Montreal is not selling Dvorak for a 3rd or 4th. Habs should be able to get a late 1st + B or C level prospect min for him, especially if we wait until the deadline. His cap hit is reasonable and his term is not a hindrance. His value is slightly less than what the Habs paid for him. He definitely has bounceback candidate written all over him as he is still just entering his prime at 26.
