I'm sure Murray will play average, but he hasn't played over 30 games in a season since 2019/20 season.

Same goes for Samsonov, in his rookie season he looked like the Caps goalie of the future, but after 2 meh seasons since, he is now a Leaf.

Dubas betting the Leafs can win with 2 goalies who haven't played well since the Covid era started 3 years ago.

Taking a risk. Dubas either wins some GM of the year votes if it works out, or he gets fired next summer if this is another failed season.

The Leafs under President Shanahan have lots of high priced executives. Seems to me they are missing in action and just lets Dubas do what he wants in regards to signings, contract negotiations and trades. Sure I blame Dubas but I don't think he is getting any support from his boss and his "team".
I don't under why Comrie was signed for 1.8m X 2 but the Leafs were happy with 4.7m X 2 Murray.
Like former GM Burke, Dubas seems to have no regard for player value or the cap. Maybe Leafs executives should be reading CapFriendly posts.....they might have a better reference point for player values in a flat cap league.

Lou should have been kept on as a Senior Advisor to Dubas, to help with contracts, Lou was a good negotiator, just Lou is too loyal to his older players, which makes him sign bad UFA contracts, but he does good with RFA contracts (I don't blame him on the Zaitsev contract, Z looked good as a rookie, Dubas and Keefe ruined Z somehow).

Not Zaitsev was ruined under Babcock.(though maybe no coach could say him) Lou wanted to continue as GM but Shanahan didn't renew his contract since they wanted Dubas. Lou I believe was given President title with the Isles and well as GM. No I don't blame him for leaving. The only question is would Lou have stayed on if offered the Leafs GM job.

Zaitsev played a grand total of 0 games under Keefe. He was traded before Babcock was fired. Not that a gm can generally really ruin a player but Lou was also gm the whole time Zaitsev was on the team. Your blaming Dubas and Keefe seems way more to do with you wanting it to be their fault than what actually happened.

Yea I looked it up, so weird, Lou signed Z to the contract on May 2, than left and joined NYI on May 22. So technically Z didn't even play 1 game of that contract under Lou.

So... obviously Dubas hated Z from day 1.
