Detroit will finish 6th in the Atlantic. Its unfortunate that Detroit is in the Atlantic. If they were in the Western Conference, then they would have a real shot at the playoffs. Given the additions they made this offseason, they deserve to be competitive. They were last year, but injuries midway through the season butchered their playoff hopes. As a Jets fan, I love Copp as the 2C behind Larkin. At best, Suter is a 3C. Perron and Kubalik are solid additions as well. Chiarot and Maatta are also solid two-way defenseman that will add much-needed depth on Detroit’s blue line. And Husso has shown that he can be a consistent starter during the regular season. Seider and Raymond are poised to build upon their stellar rookie seasons, and this year is Zadina’s last chance to breakout in the NHL. Overall, this Detroit team has the right pieces to be competitive, but with how stacked this division is, they won’t be a playoff team unfortunately. The highest I think Detroit could finish is 4th.
For younger players, the only prospect that could crack Detroit's lineup is Edvinsson. He doesn't have much offensive upside, but his defensive game, size, and shot should land him a full-time role in Detroit. They should do the 11F, 7D combo to include Edvinsson in. However, if Edvinsson fails to impress, he will be sent to the AHL, and Oesterle will be paired with Lindstrom.
Pretty accurate prediction for someone who doesn't have the Wings as a 1st or 2nd favorite team.
I was.. and still am hoping Edvinsson would make the roster but he didn't standout in world juniors. That said he did have a minor injury & food poisoning.
Just like Raymond last year training camp & preseason will determine if Edvinssonmakes the team or not.
If he doesn't make the team I feel like it's not a big deal if they aren't making they playoffs. It gives him time to develop in the AHL without as much pressure.

I agree this is really close to what I think as well. Edvinsson's play at the WJC will have very little to do with him making the roster. Once drafted the only thing that matters is how he does in training camp. I do think he makes the team out of camp.
