The 1st is a very late one and asking for a 3rd back makes this a pointless trade for Detroit. Suter is a very good defensive centre and I'd rather resign him.

If you wan't him you'll have to make a much better offer. Newhook + a 2nd will open the talks.

If Wings on the outside,I could see a deal. Suter becomes more expendable next year and moving up from 3rd to late 1st is a deal that Yzerman would make, especially if not in the hunt. Becomes a moot point if Wings are in contention

COL isn’t sending their 23 1st for a 3C that’s small and basically produces at Compher levels. CF is going off the rails.

Yeah Newhook isn't going anywhere.

COL isn’t trading the only pick they have in the 1st 5 rounds of maybe the best draft since 2015 for a 3C. They gave up Barron in the Lehkonen trade and Helleson in the Manson trade instead of giving up the 23 1st. They could literally sign Rodrigues keep all their assets and be better off.

Suter at the deadline could net a first. Teams go crazy sometimes...I mean it was a long time ago, but Paul Gaustad went for a package just to take faceoffs....the package included a first and at time he was only like 54% at the dot.

In any case Suter being traded is completely situational. Injuries by the deadline will be the key. Suter would do fine as a 2C on Colorado, he probably gets more consistent too. And if everyone is healthy, he fills the 3C defensive role quite well.

Definitely don’t disagree teams over pay at TDL, Newhook is already better than Suter and is going to be significantly better. They have Compher, Helm, and Meyers who can all play C as well as Rantanen and Landeskog have also played center. COL needing a C is over blown.
