Vegas only signed Phil Kessel so they can cement their legacy as a poverty franchise by healthy scratching him in Game 1 of the regular season

The Subban Sweepstakes continue. The man with the highest previous cap hit in the FA class has still yet to find a home...

Where do you think he goes?

1) Dallas - should have their RFA deals done and with Khudobin on LTIR they have more space available. Need for a RHD, PP specialist, in a big market and a contender. Imagine Suter-Subban as the 3rd pair!
2) Columbus - some space under the cap still, their 3rd pair defense isn't solid and they need to buy time for Jiricek-Mateychuk to develop.
3) Buffalo - has a need at RHD, could use a veteran blueliner, and would be in same org as his brother.
4) Edmonton - if they can move Barrie then Subban would be a great investment as his replacement.

Buffalo is probably not going to happen, team seems to want to stay put where they are now. If Dahlin ends up back on the Left side in stead of right then i guess there would be a fit.

Im starting to wonder if VGK is working out a deal for Reimer

As rn SJS have 3 NHL goaltenders making over a mill

Kahkonen
Hill
Reimer

And one is gonna have to be moved and Reimer to me makes the most sense.

I just can't see San Jose doing Vegas any favors; at least not directly. Not sure why they haven't taken a shot at Corey Schneider. He looked good in AHL duty last year; at least a tandem between him and Logan Thompson gets them to the trade deadline.

Quoting: aadoyle
Wont be a favor but I dont see a them carrying 3 NHL goalies the entire season as thats very rare today. So in a sense neither is in a strong position in the trade

Quoting: HockeyScotty
San Jose and New Jersey could have valuable goalie assets to trade mid-year (when Bernier is healthy) and any of the contenders have injuries or their goalies suck.

Avs could be a big target; and then of course there are the teams like Tampa and New York Rangers that put all their eggs in the one workhorse basket and an injury spells disaster for their season.

Sheng Peng had actually worked out SJS can enter the year with 3 goalies:

That’s 13 forwards, seven defensemen, and three goalies for a 23-man roster. Of course, hanging over this projection is the result of Evander Kane’s grievance. An NHL source indicated to SJHN that the Sharks, Kane, and the NHL still haven’t scheduled a second hearing date at this time.

And if SJS plans to use some ELC/ two ways to help with injuries they can realistically probably survive for a month or so of NHL games.

My expectation is that the Sharks are looking to pound someone. I mean by as you guys suggested, not doing any favours. The report seems to be the Sharks are looking for a similar return for Hill as for what they paid - which was a 2nd. Which is a bold price lol; and for Reimer they’re looking for a 2nd ++ .

If it’s Vegas; I honestly think Grier will consider a trade with them. He’s a new GM and he can’t worry about interdivisional trades. The belief is the Sharks are going to start the year with all 3 and wait for an even more desperate team. Unless someone pounces first. I don’t think they can achieve their ask for Hill, but Reimers is easily good to go just a matter of if a team is ready to make the move.

I just find this whole drill incredibly odd. I mean Seider was rated NHL average in everything lmfao, our Calder winner is just an average player.

And I get it’s u23, but man Dahlin has 277 games played, this dude should not be included in this drill.

Um Sandin didn't play game 6 lul

So whatever you thought you saw from him was actually from Dermott. Don't know how you could mistaken the two but hey we all make mistakes

Besides Durzi looked worse in his playoffs debut especially when he was needed in a top 4 roleso not a great point to go off of anyways

Sorry, Game 5
And he didn't play Game 6, because of his game in game 5 🤔

One game that happened a year and a half ago doest lower his value to below Durzi. If that was the case every player in the nhl's value would be awful. Sandin for Durzi in a 1 for 1 would be fair. That said Durzi did have a worse playoff performance anyways lul. Toronto adding would be an overpay end of story so as I said before nice try

They had the choice between a Matheson anchor and a Hornqvist partial anchor, don’t think Zito made a mistake in that trade

Oh the oppsy wasn't that it was trading away Weegar and not properly addressing the Dcore lul

As their Ld is Forsling, Staal, Carlsson which isn't great

Besides if you think about it they really could use a Matheson rn wink

I just find this whole drill incredibly odd. I mean Seider was rated NHL average in everything lmfao, our Calder winner is just an average player.

And I get it’s u23, but man Dahlin has 277 games played, this dude should not be included in this drill.

I mean it’s not a prospect pool ranking, that’s what Wheeler does in like January. Why should a team be penalized for their 22yo being a top NHLer already? That’s the point of the pipeline rankings. A 20yo NHLer is still going to be a big part of the future of the team, arguably moreso than a 22yo prospect 🤷‍♂️

Also on Pronman’s skill evaluations, he’s notoriously tough on guys (especially skating). He has 6 tiers, but Elite is basically exclusively McDavid for skating for example. His argument is that nobody is close to McDavid, so why should McDavid share the tier? And honestly it’s kind of justifiable. Most guys are pretty close to average at these individual skills, so being above or below average means a lot more with that context. It’s also evaluating junior players against NHL averages lol

On Wheeler vs. Pronman, I find Wheeler to be a lot like typical public perception, loving guys like Lane Hutson for example. Pronman seems more “realistic” or how NHL teams look at guys, which is arguably more helpful insight. Wheeler will tell you a prospect’s best case scenario, Pronman will tell you what their likelihood of reaching it is. So on Gushchin for example, he’s got great speed and skill that is on full display in junior. But that doesn’t always translate up levels, as the NHL is much more structured, and the guys that are just as skilled but also big rise to the top. For a little guy, there are always the physical challenges, and I feel like for the most part they’ve gotta seize a top 6 role quickly, and if they don’t they can’t fall back into a bottom 6 role (for example like a guy Pronman was high on in Reid Schaefer, if he doesn’t pan out as a top 6 power forward, he’ll probably still be an effective checker). Like Gaudreau spent 3 years in college, then put up 64 points (I believe on the first line) in his DY+4. DeBrincat scored 28 NHL goals in his DY+2. Point put up 18 goals in his DY+3. Gushchin doesn’t seem like he’s cracking the NHL this year, which really lowers his chances of making it. If he’s not cemented a top 6 job by the end of camp a year from now, he’s probably not making it based on how similar players typically develop, which is why Pronman would have him lower than a guy with lower upside but higher likelihood of making it (like Kniazev).
