Description
If sharks are really trying to win sooner than later this is the ideal TDL scenario.
obviously all the trades would be tweaked a bit based on production and other teams needs.
this puts us in tank mode for at the very least a top 5 pick in 23 and we essentially have 2 years worth of picks in 23, (a very deep draft) would build one of the deepest and most diverse prospect pools in the NHL.
we then can focus on making trades and bringing in youth and replenish this team with high level of skill.
if we do this and then play out 22/23 post deal line and all of 23/24 youth heavy and figuring out who is NHL ready and were we need to add, then in 24/25 we can start to really build a contender!

here i assume he is still a year away and you guys want a top line power forward to push you into the playoffs for the next 5-6 years!

You can get more for Reimer if he puts up similar numbers this season.

I'll be genuinely blown away if the Sharks move Meier after signing Hertl last season.

Everyone else is absolutely trade bait.

Let’s also see how Meier does in follow-up to last season. Just a year prior, Sharks fans were giving him away.

I'm hoping for a 2nd but that's the ask right now and he is still with he sharks meaning were probably not getting a 2nd unless we wait till near the TDL.

yes on the team but not looking like a 35G goal 80+ point guy, more like a rookie who needs a year of growth and maturity still. like 14-15G 30point guy.

No they weren’t, he was 3rd on the team in points that year and 1st on the team in points the year before that. Stop with this nonsense my guy

I certainly agree he wasn’t playing up to his aav but he was also still being jerked about by Boughner, just like labanc. Always being put on the 4th line even though he was one of the best players on the team

yea Bob’s tough love approach drove me nuts! we will see if Meier excels it will be in spite of Bob and if Labanc bounces back then we know Bob firing was the right decision.

His ELC is huge for the Devils. He may not be scoring 35 goals this year, but what about years 2 and 3, in which he'll still only be paid 892k

Doesn't mean they'll be willing to part with him. I'd be much happier with multiple lesser prospects being in the deal instead, like Mukhamadullin, Zetterlund, or even Casey or Gritsyuk.

yea of course you would but why would the sharks give up their best player for that? we have lots of prospects on their level we need more Holtz or Mercer or Eklund quality prospects.
I think your argument is fair and logical and I agree with you but when GM’s and coaches jobs are on the line they get desperate to win they sell prospects and young players for more established vets to make that splash in hopes of getting over the hump and that’s what i would be hoping for as a sharks fan! your ownership wanting a star like Meier and your GM being forced to make a deal to keep ownership happy and keep his job.
remember this is all hypothetical and I am just showing the value i’d want for Meier and how it would help us rebound sooner.

Even with injuries, Washington has far too many forwards as it is. Leason, Protas, Jonsson-Fjallby, Snively, perhaps even Lapierre would probably get called up in the case of injuries and with only Protas and Lapierre being waivers exempt, I think the Caps will be hesitant to lose some of their cheaper/younger depth to waivers. I like Barabanov, but the Caps just have far too many forwards to fit him into the lineup even with injuries. Wilson coming back before the deadline makes the situation even worse in DC.

However, given the value other players got at the deadline last year, I could see Barabanov possibly getting even more from a different team if he has a good start to the season.

yea your argument is reasonable, just figured Washington likes Russians and Barby would fit in well. how are you guys in D? maybe we switch it up and move a depth as your way instead, or Hill if he has a good season at the deadline and you guys need a G.

D is an interesting scenario, currently Washington has 8 or 9 possible NHL defenseman but the right side is quite thin with only Carlson, Jensen, and Van Riemsdyk being regular RDs that can sustain NHL minutes. The Left side is much more clogged but a depth RD come the deadline could be pretty decent as currently I'd only feel comfortable moving Irwin out of position out of the current defenseman.

As for Hill, I could see him (or Reimer if he's available, I believe Washington looked briefly into him last year) being a mid-season/deadline replacement for Lindgren if he does what I think he'll do and be sporting a .900 sv% and Fucale does not cement himself as a viable NHL backup.
