Minnesota says no thanks. Your idea to make the cap works fixes things for this year, but then makes our cap situation worse for the 2 hardest years of the buyouts when we have more important players to re-sign (like Boldy). This is why we traded Fiala instead of re-signing him. We would have had to sell off several pieces just to try to make the cap work. Schenn on the wrong side of 30 doesn't move the needle enough to make that worth it for us.
We also don't want to be burdened with Schenn until he's 36. We've done enough buyouts for a while. We'll let you deal with that one if/when his contract turns bad.
