That's seven guys. If we are making room for Nemec, Hughes, and Mukhamadullin, that likely means at least two d-men could be shown the exits.

Hamilton, Siegenthaler, Marino, Hughes, Nemec and Muk aren't going anywhere and not much of a market for Smith. So that means two of Bahl, Okhotiuk, Walsh could potentially be moved before start of 2023-24 season.

I don't hate these swaps, granted I know nothing about the other guys, but I feel that since we are entering a contention window, we should be using our well stocked prospect pool to make trade packages for immediate help this deadline or next summer, rather than lateral trades.

I love the idea.
This issue of losing valuable future NHLers due to lack of roster spots for nothing has irked me for some time.

Just to say though, the waivers calculator for Okhotiuks 2019-20 OHL season is included, is that correct?
I suspect the calculator is wrong here and that Okhotiuk would be exempt for the 23-24 season also.

Alex Laf is right-shot skilled winger with a bit of a snipe. Great skater.
RyJo is solid two-way dman on loaded Gopher blueline. Very good skater, good transition offense and defense.

Both great NCAA players. Both have a smidge of signability concerns.

Walsh doesn't play that small...can be physical at times and doesn't really get pushed off his skates.

But by all means, take McCarthy...doubt there will be any issues signing him since he grew up a junior Sabre.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. We would get a late second if Johnson flakes on us, I think I would rather have that than a smallish puck mover that's right handed. The value is probably fine, but that's not what I would be looking for.

Walsh appears to be nearly NHL ready, McCarthy not so much even if he is taller and heavier
