Flames already have enough skill. I think Sutter is content with playing Lucic on the 4th line. He does his job.

They get a fast, skilled, hard working player who can provide more offence and defence to Calgary than what Lucic provies. They already have a lot of toughness throughout their line up, so they can afford to lose out on the toughness Lucic brings. They get the much more skilled player for an extra 875k cap hit (which they can afford to take on).

The Leafs can really use some more toughness throughout their line up and they need a bit of cap relief. They also have a lot of skill, speed throughout their line up, so they can sacrifice a bit of that to get the toughness.

I did add a 3rd round pick going to Vancouver here. So clearly I valued Schenn and his contract more than Holl and his contract. Holl is more talented and has higher upside is what I said though but also has higher potential downside. He holds his line better than almost everyone in the league but isn't great in his own zone. But the Leafs need the physicality that Schenn brings more than what Holl brings.

Lucic is a bad 4th liner at this point in his career, and even at 50% retained is a massivly negative value. Trading Kerfoot for him would be an exceptionally bad trade
