This is exactly how i see the opening night lineup as well.

Barring that Edvinsson doesn't make the team and goes to GR. And then gets his 9 game trial at the end of the season.

I concur, but do think Veleno and Ras are interchangeable, o that 4th line. My only concern is is a RHD center to take face offs late in games.

yzerman has said repeatedly he wants GR to have a deep run. I could see Veleno lead that team instead of 4th line in Det with all the new young yzerman picks now in GR

Yeah i could see that as well, Veleno is waiver exempt for one more year. Might as well keep him down there at least until the Trade Deadline.

That Grand Rapids team could be pretty fun to watch with potentially Jonatan Berggren, Joe Veleno, Filip Zadina, Elmer Soderblom, Albert Johanssen, Donovan Sebrango & Simon Edvinsson over there.

I’ve seen reports of Cossa potentially coming this year as well but I think he may stay in the WHL for another season.

Am I missing anybody else ?

Yes, but Shawn Horcoff has been pretty adamant that Edvinsson would make the team out of camp. Yzerman said pretty much the same thing before camp last season as well but as we saw Seider and Raymond make the team out of camp. Now it was a given with Seider but with Raymond most were convinced he'd need at least a season in the AHL and with how well he played it was the right choice. I do think Edvinsson is on the opening night roster because like Raymond a season in the AHL isn't going to do anything but impede his development. You always want your farm team to do well but not if it hurts or slows a players development.

There's no way Zadina is playing in GR, He would need to clear waivers. And that wont happen.

There is a small gap of time where you can drop any player to the minors without having to pass through waivers.

I’m not sure Edvinsson playing in GR would hurt his development. He definitely looks like he can play at the NHL level now, but I am not 100% certain he can play at a higher level than Maata or even Oesterle at this present moment. I think it’s really going to come down to how he shows out in camp and preseason.
