Why would Carolina get Ullmark?

Andersen and Raanta likely will get paid well in UFA if they repeat their successes this season. Canes could then run Ullmark-Kochetkov as a tandem for a couple of seasons until Kochetkov is officially a #1 goalie.

And unless Ullmark is getting half retention somewhere, a trade like that isn’t happening.

True, but 2 games isn’t the best of a sample size. I feel it’s already been settled that Swayman is 1a and Ullmark is 1b for this season. We will see how it goes

For next offseason it’s all hypothetical but if Ullmarks numbers are good, teams that would be potentially have interest would be

Carolina - both goalies are UFA
Ottawa - no shot they resign Murray, Forsberg Ullmark would be pretty good imo
San Jose - Reimer will be traded before the season or at the deadline, if Adin Hill sucks this season, sharks will move on and with bruins cap problems even going into next season. This wouldn’t be a bad move
Anaheim - all depends on the Gibson situation
Montreal - all depends on Price situation and if Cayden Primeau is ready for the NHL.
All the others are 1a 1b situations

I just don't think Ullmark is going to be a target of the Canes. Especially at $5M. While it's possible some of this scenario plays out as such, you know how strange the goalie market gets. I think there is WAY too much speculation on what will happen over the course of this year. Too much to start betting on goalie destinations. As far as this package goes, I cannot see the Canes or Boston being interested in this one.

Why does everyone think Reilly needs picks to get nothing in return. Talk about selling out and undervaluing a player.

The kid player top pairing and wasn’t horrible. Best suited as a 2nd pairing and you don’t add picks to move a 2nd pair D or a good contract.

You GET a 2nd for him, not send 2 3rds and get nothing back.

Aside from that, why is Studnicka not at center?
