Why is TBL moving the LTIR cap they paid to get?
It would be like VGK trading Weber after giving up Dadanov for nothing
I wont say i get all the logistic's but given your LTIR hoarding i would say you probably do lol

How is Killorn a cap dump? Seabrook doesn't affect Tampa's cap at all. That's quite an assumption Price is LTIRT eligible for four years.

In the shortened 2021 season, Petry was 13th in Norris voting and Hoffman's production had started to dip. Both being bad last year was partially a product of how awful Montreal was.
However, Hoffman was declining before that season, and Petry was not.

Hoffman still has value as an NHL player, but he's not what he once was. But like what was mentioned earlier, the Penguins do not have the cap space for Hoffman's contract, especially considering it ends in 23-24.

Not really at all. People just realized his best days are probably behind him. Nobody is taking Hoffman until NEXT year's deadline. If you want to move him now you'll have to add a 1st for any team to take him.

So if were taking Monahan, surely youre going to forward that high complicated 2025 1st?

TDL in his Trade's Comment section stands for Trade Dead Line
If you have to keep reading past here i'm going to assume its your first TDL
In that case yearly its supply vs demand often with 16 teams buying and atleast 3-6 teams selling
TDL means depending on your position specifically Center and Right Handed Defenseman go for huge deals.

Center's in the past even on IR have got huge yields for a variety of reasons.
Martin Hanzal is always going to be my favorite example of this as DAL primarily bought him so CHI couldnt have him (1st,2nd and 3rd round picks i believe).
Center's having their worst seasons to date but still strong in the faceoffs circle even get picked up for runs like Thomas Plekanec (2nd and 2 AHL prospects the MB Flipped for Kulak)

What about Defensmen?
Kimmo Timmonen spent all year on LTIR wasnt even guaranteed to be ready before a Playoffs (barring any setbacks)
Walked away with two 2nd round picks in the deal and Timmonen won a Cup
Martinez a Left handed D who's always played RD got two 2nd round picks in 2020 showing that value remains consistent for lefty's

The Value of being a Right Handed Shot though shoot that value up to a 1st round pick at the TDL though as seen with David Savard a #4/5 RD with no potential for a greater role.
He still got CBJ a larger return based on the position he played as Right Handed D at the NHL level arent common, every team doesnt have 3-4 high quality RD (Really only LAK have that)

I can keep listing Example's but it would all be a Moot Point if i didnt emphasize the importance of Supply vs Demand in a Free Market situation.
With 16 contenders for those 16 playoff spots competing hard down the final stretch a lot of teams enter the TDL final days really banged up.
It's why teams will give up 4th rounders for Joe Morrow and Jakub Jerebek playing 7th D or Kulak in a #5/6 D situation getting a 2nd round pick and a RFA

History both Recent and more Seasoned are full of Examples
You just got to remember the TDL value has very little to do with deals
Cap is everything as only 2-3/16 teams are still shopping for big name players
Most are happy with thei rcore and just looking for depth pieces incase of injury who might not play much if at all
Jerebek for example got a Ring in WSH and he was basically a player who practiced with the team and thats it
Its why teams gamble on nobodies and AHL call up's even when the Market is Low with few team's selling (happens once every 6-7 years or more)

Check out any for Steve Dangles Trade Deadline video's where he breaks down why TML overpaid for someone
He'll cover most of this in the Post Muzzin trade and his reaction to the price.

Actually yes really
I've made many posts trying to move him and its why 7/10 commenter's would go on about.
You could point out 21 pts in 32 games once Martin St Louis was hired and they'll say "fluke "
Trying to tell you that 30 games doesnt define his value while telling you that his 30 games under Ducharme he was playing bad had defined him.

It made no sense at all
But thats what people on this site do
Its Mob Mentality and people Trolling for Likes
Either way now you have Petry and if he doesnt start out hot you'll understand what i mean quickly lol

Personally i love Petry , wished we still had him over that polished turd we got in exchange.
But sadly he was tired of being held hostage not being able to see his family
Glad thats not an issue anymore for him

The thing about Petry is he was never really a #1 guy, but was placed in the position to be that. That said, I think he's had a fairly consistent career and I'm excited to see him in a Pens uniform. I actually think he'll thrive on the Pens in a lesser role than he did the last few years in MTL.

If he went straight-up in a trade I always assumed he'd go for a first, but obviously the Pens trade was a different type of trade. I think you guys will love Matheson though.

hahahaha so you watched no MTL games is what you're telling me ?
Chiarot was #1, not Petry
Heck when Weber was around Chiarot was #2 and Petry #3.
Desptire being big into Special teams on both units Chiarot as a rule played more then him

Petry's great dont get me wrong but he's never going to be a top pair guy ever on any team in the NHL , ARZ included.
He's not capable as his instinct will always be offense first and while he's not a liability he SUCKS at 1v1 battles vs top line players
Be Prepared for the big barn door that is Petry when you match him up vs a Drisatl, Marner , or even a Huberdeau he'll screw you 10/10
Put him versus a Mcdavid or Stamkos type and it gets so much worse.

That said if you keep him away from those type of match up's versus top tier talent and he'll be a great work horse defensively making up for his issue's.
If Kris Letang is Healthy Petry will have the best year of his career leading 2nd PP unit
If Letang gets injured though ... ouch .... PIT is going to be hurting

As for Matheson
There's a rule in MTL with players who had the chance and almost signed with MTL but chose another team.
When we get them its more of an issue then anything else. I mean man did Briere get some hate after snubbing us Twice.

I'm not saying Matheson isnt good.
I'm just saying he isnt good enough for Hughes
He's just an easier piece on a lesser contract that he can move
He'll play him until the kids push him to RD then eventually out
Then dump him for picks and given all the overpaid deals he's had vs the ones he blew
Id say Hughes makes a tidy profit off Matheson in the next 2 years
