Islanders have 4 centers, If the Leafs want to shed cap space they will have to pay, not the Islanders. There are 5/6 teams in the league that need to shed cap space, it ain't gonna be easy.

Isles can’t afford kerfoot after Romanov and Dobson Re-Up. Also he doesn’t really fill a need for NY. Isles need a top line winger and they are all set at the center position.

Then why did they want Kadri so bad? Kerfoot is their consolation prize. He's also better on the wing.

I wouldn’t expect to be paid to take Kerfoot, but I also don’t c any reason to target him. Isles don’t have any cap issues since they aren’t signing Kadri. I can live with the isles biggest problem being Josh Bailey lmao.

Lou has been a Kadri guy for a long time, that is why he pursued him. After dodging that long term contract the Isles will go into the season with their current roster.

I agree, but Dubas seems really invested in Malgin. Who put up really solid numbers in Zurich last season.

I think he's going to get the first shot, and if he doesn't work out then Robertson and Steeves will compete for it. It also largely depends on the training camp they all have.
