That CAR trade is definitely heavy handed in TOR's favor.

The VAN trade doesn't make much sense to me.

I'm going to head into the kitchen and top off my coffee. Gives you a couple of minutes to delete this.

Wanna talk Bear for Sandin, then good.

You get laughed at by bringing up Kerfoot and Engvall for Necas.

Necas for a pile of junk.. try taking out Sandin, Engvall, and Kerfoot and making it someone like Nylander. Or drop Necas. If you drop Necas and Kerfoot, I'd probably do it. But this wouldn't get Necas straight up.

Since when are 40 pt players like Necas so valuable?!?!?

And trading ONE 40pt RW (which CAR has excess of) for TWO 40pt LW (which CAR is in need of) certainly seems like a win to me!

And even if Necas is > Kerfoot and Engvall...

Sandin>Bear - especially from an offensive perspective. CAR again has depth on the right and not so much on the left. Both TOR and CAR meet organizational/positional needs via this trade without over paying TOO MUCH.

You’re expectating Carolina to give you a young cost controlled player who has time to improve for two older players in their prime as third liners who are both on expiring contracts. Think again bud

Contract status and age matter

Necas is younger, cheaper and has more team control. All major pluses in his case.

The Canes have zero use for Kerfoot at $3.5M for 1yr.

Engvall would only play above Martinook, again useless.

Sandin would be interesting but certainly not worth Necas.

Seems like you're making a pretty good case to NOT make the trade. But then again, I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee and this conversation is still here.

"Cost controlled"? Necas is signed for 2 yrs - not 10! Sheesh! oooooo 1 extra year! and then?!?!? Oh but he is RFA! Ya, bc THAT matters in today's NHL! Just see Nylander and now Sandin hold out situations as shining examples of how the players hold all the power in today's NHL. It ain't like the 90s or earlier when teams would tell the RFA what they are getting and the player would just have to accept bc the team "owned him".

Kerfoot is literally an expiring UFA. So is Engvall. Makes two rentals and Sandin for Necas and Bear. Bad deal. Tell me the last time a good RFA simply refused to sign with their team that they have signed 2 contracts with already
