interesting! I think it is a fair trade for both teams could be win/win Colorado win trade now, Isle get younger , but now I'll be watch 164 games a years. I think Brock can repeat or beat last years stats especially with the Av's.

Beauvillier makes more sense for the Isles but probably not Colorado. They only need help at pivot.

I don't think the team has any interest in trading Girard anyway tbh. They would probably have to at least think about it if Nelson were offered though (which I don't think will happen).

I wouldn’t move Nelson tbh. I like Girard but going from 3 years of Nelson to 7 years of Kadri would backfire spectacularly for NY.

Of course it will backfire, no one like Kadri with 7 years
But let’s say they do it, this trade makes the team better
You replace Nelson with Kadri but you’re adding Sam Girard and you also added Romanov at the draft. This team got more scoring and a way better dcore than last year and you keep both goaltender on top of that

Might be better for a year I guess. I think the decline in play from Kadri will be sweep and swift tho.

The two things I don’t like in all of this are Kadri signing and Romanov stuck on the 3LHD for many years

I liked Romanov a lot in Montreal. I’d rather give Salo/Bolduc a chance to lock up the 3LHD spot and just give this forward core another year. Rn they can’t really upgrade it anyway.

I like the idea of picking up Beauvillier , but even in a package, that isnt the trade avs should look at Girard, all us avs fans agree there is 0 need or desire to move Girard)
From what is out there, Beauvillier is being moved as a pure cap reason...with islanders refusing to take cap back.

if avs wanted to trade for Beauvillier they could just snag him for picks/prospets. Top 4 Dmen like Girard arent needed to complete that deal

No actually it doesnt make the team better. Girard benefits massively from the system in COL as well as playing with elite teammates. Try putting girard in the NYI system which is built on dump and chase, you know what will happen? He'll get eaten alive. Not to mention he will be playing with a lot less talented players and wont have the freedom in the offensive zone like he has in COL. Hes significantly overrated and getting him at the cost of nelson would be a terrible move for NYI.

I think you dont really have a full understanding of who Girard is as a player, his actual skill sets and his play style. This reads as a lot of blanket statements and a lot of stereotype assumptions bc hes of smaller build.

Girard wasn’t fantastic when I saw him at Belmont this year, but he’s a really good player. That being said I think the isles r better off keeping Nelson then trading him for Girard. I think Nelson is undervalued and bringing in Kadri would make this roster way worse in the long run.

I dont disagree that the Islanders should keep Nelson, really doesnt make sense for them but at least its a idea that is worth having a genuine conversation about.

I just dont like nor get when posters start to attack or belittle a player bc they dont like the trade. those are not reasons IMO.

Depends on why they don’t like the trade tbh. Lou is taking a lot of heat from fans in recent weeks over the Kadri rumors. The athletic had them ranked 28th in terms of front office confidence. Last year they were 5th. I wonder if Lou has the stones to make another move or if he is gonna fade under pressure lol.

there are bad trades that deserve to be sewered by the comments, understandable, but in this case, the dog pile on girard saying hes a by product of the avs system and good players, thats just trying to undermind the player to make a point of not liking the trade seem stronger. That is the kind of stuff that never resonates with me

thats a downgrade, his Hips are a major question mark. Granted as a pure cap dump that Flames get him 50% retained.....I would roll the dice on him

Understand the context to it, go see how his numbers were draggged down bc of Jack Johnson then get back to me.

And you proved my point by just posting a card, you don’t know the player or his ability on the ice,

See the 84% quality of teammates. Its based on TOI. Jack johnson played 16:45 a game this year. That was not the reason girard didnt play well

once again you are proving my point of not understanding the player and not understanding waht you are looking at.
