That is a good point. I forgot he used to play as a Winger. In that case I would replace Burns with Kieth. Doughy was also well deserved of that Norris. Offensive production is all Karlsson had. Doughty on this list is by far the most balanced defenseman. Not the best but the best balanced.

It was unreal how overblown the "EK65 sucks defensively" narrative was. He wasn't that bad. And in 2016 he certainly wasn't bad enough to warrant not winning the Norris imo. He arguably could have been a Hart Finalist that year, let alone the Norris. He put up 82 points in 82 games, was top 5 in league scoring and he averaged 29min a night. No Dman in the league came close to his results.

It was infuriating watch him get robbed in 2016 for being "bad" defensively, have him completely change his game defensively under Guy Boucher and be 2nd behind Kris Russell in blocked shots, only to lose the Norris again because a Forward turned Dman who barely even knew where the D Zone was scored 30 goals.

you could argue Karlsson has one of Burns stolen trophies as well! he played 1 year as a RW but he was the best offensive D or top 3 in 4-5 on those seasons

i’m sorry that a guy playing 24 min a night scoring 29 goals and 75 points with a plus 19 won the Norris!
what about 18/19 when Burns had 83 points in 82 games plus 13 while playing 25 min a night and got passed over by Giordano
or in 15/16 27 goals 75 points and got 3rd
yes burns was at best an average defender but his offensive numbers from the blue line made forwards drool!
nothing was stolen all the Norris trophy’s were won fair and square, besides it’s not really the best d it more the best offensive guy playing D

Too much recency bias for Keith. People seem to forgot how good he really was during the 2010s. I’m not going to pull out the resume for all players but here’s Keith’s in the 2010s. Multiple players on this list don’t even come close to this resume. To see PK on this list over Keith is laughable.
