Thats not a reliable site and its 5 months old. Since then CAR has acquired Brent Burns and Dylan Coghlan on RD to go along with Pesce and Bear. Theres no room for Savard on the Canes

Firstly, that article says it was posted in March

Second, Carolina already has Pesce, Burns, Bear, and Coghlan at RHD. Why would they give a 1st rounder in a loaded draft for an aging RHD with a not so great contract that would be at best 3rd pair if not a healthy scratch for them?

That's a PRE-DEADLINE source. While the first in '23 is extremely tempting, they would have to have a veteran RD in their back pocket (Strålman or someone similar). Though what do I know.

His contract isn't really an issue for what he brings. It's the ludicrous asking price.

This isn’t a rumor and if it was, logically Savard makes no sense given the Canes have 5 RD already and you wouldn’t sniff a first from anyone for him.

What I meant is no one who the habs are willing to trade is worth anywhere near a first round pick, and anyone on the team who is (i.e Caufield, Suzuki, etc) is not getting traded anytime soon.

Just for starters, that link is from 5 months ago. And never mentions Savard. Or him getting a 1st+ in return. Besides, the Canes are looking for an LD. They have like 5 RDs already, and doesn;t even count Morrow or Keane.

Yeah I don’t get it. He has some good tools but didn’t seem to take advantage of the admittedly limited opportunity he has had and doesn’t seem to want to battle for another shot with the canes. Pretty deep at RD for next 2-3 years but never know what could happen.

Canes have his NHL rights for a few more years, so if he plays for anyone in the NHL any time soon, Canes will have a say so. Perhaps a small trade chip.
