There's just no way Buffalo moves Tuch & Tage even though that is very good value, a big overpay by the Leafs

Tbh I don’t even know that it’s an overpay. Thomson is a legit top 6 center and Tuch might be just as good or better than Nylander anyway. He just produced less in Vegas cause he was further down in the lineup then he should’ve been.

Sabres decline. Nylander is only signed for 2 years and if we trade Tuch and Thompson, it’s unlikely we’re competing for those two years.

Ahhhh a big no way from buffalo.

Nylander only averaged about 10 seconds of ice time less per game than Tuch. Nylander also averaged almost a minute more per game at even strength, a few seconds more on the PP which is negligible and over a minute less on the PK. Citing ice time is pointless without proper context. Nylander also played substantial minutes with Matthews and Tavares. While I love Thompson, those 2 are far better centers offensively.

Fat no from the leafs , Nylander+Knies > Thompson and Tuch in terms of value imo, Knies will potentially be the best player of the 3.
Very interesting conversation.
Sort of which is your favorite ice cream, Vanilla or Chocolate, Tuch or Nylander.
They bring different attributes to the ice and which of those qualities are most needed will determine which player is most valuable at the moment.
Of course it is an over pay, take out Tuch and Nylander, leaving Robertson, Hirvonen, knies, 2024 1st and 2024 2nd for Thompson would be more than Buffalo got for Eichel.
Unfortunately, even this year Buffalo is close to being a playoff team (still missing the dance by 10 to 15 points), this trade would push that playoff game back a couple of years.
Here is the irony, if Tuch was a Sabre on October first 2021, it would have been laughable to turn down Nylander for Tuch and Thompson.
