No, afraid Hughes isn't on the table.
But there are plenty of other options.

    Put together a package of....

One of - Walsh, Bahl, Foote, Zetterlund, Gritsyuk, Mukhamadullin, Casey
One of - Thompson, Edwards, Salminen, Okhotiuk, Clarke, Stillman
    One of - Severson, Graves
One of - Daws, Schmid, Blackwood, Vanecek, Bernier
    One of - 2023 protected 1st, 2024 unprotected 1st

    Would be plenty worthwhile

Yeah, I'm afraid a package of any kind won't raise interest. The Panthers don't have any need to trade Knight so the price is a top-quality piece or no trade.

Okay. Not sure I understand the thinking here. But I'll take your word for it

    For where I stand,

    1. They have Bob for four more years
    2. Knight is RFA next summer
    3. Knight is not going to want to burn his age 18-24 years sitting on the bench
    4. Panthers have few picks or prospects to make a move
    5. Panthers need defense in serious way

    1. Bob's contract is tough but I'd bet on him not finishing it with Florida. Knight is the one that makes sense to hold on to. Keeping Bob would mean serious goaltending issues down the road.
    2. Knight is an RFA with no leverage. That means he isn't going anywhere.
    3. How many 21-year-old starters are there in the NHL? I doubt Knight is too disappointed with being a 1B. And he has already at times taken the starter role away from Bob, they play according to their performances.
    4. A contender doesn't need picks. And if those picks are acquired just to trade them away, might as well get to the destination faster and get the quality piece. Needing futures is insignificant when you also need a 1st pair dman for years to come.
    5. The Panthers do need defense. That's where Hughes comes in. They're built to be good for multiple years and sacrificing even more future for pending UFAs is foolish and bad asseta management.

If the Devils aren't keen on trading a top D-prospect for Knight, someone else could be. But even if that's not the case, the Panthers won't be forced to trade Knight.

    1. Bob has full NMC. Not sure how he could be moved.

    2. Knight may not be going anywhere, but could ask for $5-6 million deal to stay. There are plenty of goalies coming off ELCs who have signed similar deals (some with fewer starts than Knight). Will be interesting to see what Oettinger gets.

    3. Now many

    4. A contender needs assets to trade when they have a hole to fill.

    5. Hughes is not going to be traded. He is an elite level prospect, which never get dealt (for a good reason). Devils have surplus dmen, especially two good rentals in Graves and Severson. Even if it’s not a Knight deal, I would imagine the two teams could match up if Florida had prospects to trade.

Cool, Knight is also an elite level prospect. You gotta give to get (and I'm not convincing you should trade Hughes, that's just what you have that would get you Knight). Knight is an asset that a contender could use to fix the roster, no need to first move him for picks

And btw, if Knight, with no arbitration rights and two years of pro experience, gets 6M Zito should be fired immediately. Hart got less than 4M on his bridge deal, so did Vasilevskiy and Gibson
