Trade is still in the works. Florida needs defense, cap help, and Knight is RFA next year (do you think Knight wants to wait around four more years? Burning his age 18-24 seasons as backup). I’m open to suggestions, but Holtz is probably not what they are looking for. We have two good dman to spare, their blueline has Carlsson, Staal, Del Zotto, Bitetto and Gudas. Got to be a fit here somewhere.

Should I? I think it could be done in way that benefits both sides. We need goaltending, they need defense…they have goaltending to spare, we have defense to spare.

Meier is an RFA winger with poison pill QO. They are getting a 1st and a few good prospects. This is more than Buchnevich, Reinhart, Fiala, Debrincat got.

Knight offer may be a little thin, but fills a need on both sides. Open to suggestions on how to improve it.

Is it really more than what Debrincat got? He got 7OA, 39 OA, and a 3rd. This is a 1st 2 years from now that will almost definitely be mid round at worst, a 2nd 3 years from now, and some okay but not great prospects

Yes, I believe that it is. A #10-15 pick in 2023 is probably on par, if not better than #7 in 2022. The 2nd rounders wash. And Walsh, Bahl, Thompson are each worth more than a 3rd.

It’s probably a bit above market to be honest. Wingers expecting new contracts aren’t really fetching premium returns in picks and prospects.

When I originally responded it was a 2024 1st. Now that it’s 2023 I’d say it’s at least pretty close, and probably more (although I think the Devils could be a surprise team this year)

I don’t think anyone is paying 10 mil to Meier so I doubt he asks for that. Whatever team he is on, he will get paid and a long term contract that is under 10 mil. Point per game players don’t just get traded for a first and some scraps. It doesn’t matter the market, elite players will call for elite value going back. If the sharks haven’t blocked ur number yet, good luck on getting a hold of the panthers. They are never returning ur call back

There’s no convincing you of anything. Truth of it is you are getting a potential franchise goaltender and a dominant young power forward without giving up much at all.

No, afraid Hughes isn't on the table.
