You can not trade a matched offersheet for one full calendar year. You can however negotiate a trade pre or even post offersheet rather than take the compensation.

A couple of other things to note. The compensation for the offersheet is a 1st 2nd & 3rd. I don't think Vegas bites on that trade. They also have the issue of brossoit's injury.

First off, Dallas matches that easily. Second, why in god’s name would they trade him right after?

The Stars would be better off just matching it and not making the trade. 5m might be a bit more than what they want to give him right now but if he keeps on his current trajectory that will be a steal of a contract in 2 years

Vegas is already over the cap by nearly $6,000,000 so they can't offer sheet Jake Oettinger because that would put them over the 10% threshold of $8,250,000 that they can be over.

If Vegas were to offer sheet Ottinger which they can't for the reasons i explained above, And if Dallas matches. They can't trade Oettinger at least not for one year. You can't match on a player than trade them that's not how it works.
