Yep this is the stuff I’m talking about with you Canes fans on here. You people are trying to justify trading him away and instead of admitting he’s a much better player than when he was there you just can’t help yourselves.
What? Are you serious? Hanifin's underlying numbers have REGRESSED since he was traded. He's gone backwards. Just because he's putting up points isn't a sign of growth. Seth Jones put up 50 points last year, but that doesn't mean he isn't a turnstile. I'd love to say he's gotten better. But he really hasn't. This is the Lindholm argument. Lindholm didn't improve. He got put with players that can score. This isn't saying he's carried on his line. This is to say that he is a pass-first guy that never played with a goal scorer capable of doing what Tkachuk and Gaudreau did in Calgary. Trying to say "he's a much better player than he was there" is lazy and the proof is in the underlyings.
Jack Hughes if anything is underrated nobody realizes he put up 90 point pace last season. If you watch him play he's incredible and I'm a Flyers fan saying this. Bad take
1 Caufield had a nice rookie season. He has potential but is far away from being a star.
2 Hughes is further along but the kid breaks in half with contact. That’s a recipe for a short career
3 Hellebuyck is probably my harshest choice but last season wasn’t his best
4 Nylander wouldn’t be overrated if he wasn’t a Leaf but because he is one that moves him way up the list. Your fans here act like he could never be acquired in a trade unless the other team gives up half their roster
Oh and Zegras is a player I like more than the others you mentioned but I’m sick and tired of people hyping up his lacrosse goals
Quiet frankly I agree with what you say about Zegras he’s an excellent but I think the hype for his lacrosse goals is getting annoying which is why I stay far away from Twitter whenever I can as for Nylander you have a completely valid point, if he wasn’t in Toronto he’d be treated like any normal player his caliber but since he’s in a market like Toronto he gets treated like Steve Yzerman
