Description
Chevy should trade Schmidt or Dillon to make room for Heinola. I feel like Heinola will want out of Winnipeg if he doesn't make the team this year, he's been NHL-ready for a while now. For this post I added Schmidt, I feel like Dillon will mesh very well under Bowness. Schmidt is more offensive while Dillon is more defensive.

Also trade away Stanley, mostly because he had a rough season last year. Caused too many turnovers and barely uses his size. I feel like Gawanke should be on the team, I loved how he played in the AHL last year.

I also think the signing of Rittich was bad, Comrie was way better than him last year. Jets should give Berdin an opportunity this year, if he delivers, he should be the backup. I don't think it will happen, but it should happen.

I like Dillon a lot, so I think keeping him makes sense but his contract is much more appealing than Schmidt which might lead to him being moved. I think Stanley also should probably be moved, just no room for him on the roster.

A big issue the jets will face this year is waivers. Gawanke and Kovacevic are both no longer waivers exempt. They both get claimed if they’re available. So that immediately calls for them to be on the roster somehow, or trades. I really like Gawanke and think he should get a chance to play.

Rittich was a bad signing, but unfortunately there weren’t that many good options available. Comrie only left because he had a chance to play more. Also because the jets are incompetent, and didn’t give him enough playing time to keep him as an RFA. I have more faith in Salminen than Berdin.

That was prior to free agency. We're all set. Not a fit.

Definitely agree with those ideas!

As for Salminen, I haven't scouted him at all. But EliteProspects says that he's projected to play for the Jets this season somehow.

Fairly certain he was one of the better goalies in Liiga this past year. His stats looked good and from what game footage I’ve seen he looks solid. There’s a real chance he steals the moose starting job and impresses his way to some NHL time. Would be incredible if the jets found a diamond in the rough with him.

Defense: if Kovacevic, Gawanke and Stanley are on the roster then Heinola and Samberg would be with the Moose.
Forwards: Gustafsson and Malott could be kept in the NHL if they start Reichel with the Moose
Goalie: Berdin isn't waivers exempt ... I am going to miss his antics

One path to the NHL would be Berdin claimed on waivers (probably Arizona) and then there is an injury to Hellebuyck or Rittich.

Jets really do have a log jam issue on D. It’s something they should really address. I think Samberg, Heinola and Gawanke could all play games this year. Which is unrealistic due to waivers. Unfortunately it probably ends up being Heinola And Samberg with the moose. Wouldn’t be shocked if Heinola asks for a trade. Same with samberg.

As for forwards, I’m fine with reichel being down. Gustafsson is NHL ready and needs to start playing consistently barring any injuries. Don’t care much about malott either.

It’ll be sad to see berdin get claimed but it was fun while it lasted.

Seems like a realistic opportunity. Hellebuyck is bound to go down with an injury at some point. Jets overuse him to an absurd amount. I like Salminen as well so hope he has a good year in the AHL. Still a young goalie with potential.

Absent any trades, it is looking like there would have to be training camp injuries to get Heinola and Samberg on the NHL squad at the same time.

Hopefully the Jets make some moves before camp starts
