But why? They have a good top four defense, an elite starter and Mat Barzal. Doesn’t really matter if their prospect pool is thin if Raty hits. Having two high end centers is more important than having good wingers.

The team is old and you can't replace a team fast enough for 3-4 players to matter. Barzal as much as I love him is still a top 10-15 center in the league and while centers are good thats not close to good enough and you need more than 5 players to be a relevant team.

Calling McCabe a d man is a stretch. And kane is 34.

NYI's average age is like 32 so doesn't matter how old Kane is. If you want to replace McCabe with another dman thats totally fine.

You can find wings on the open market for cheap. Ask Carter Verhaeghe, Anthony Duclair, Valeri Nichushkin and now Sonny Milano lmao.

Two strong centers can make all the difference if you have good defenseman and a good tendy.

In 3 years the only old forward under his contract will be Lee and Pageau who I could c being traded anyway…

Let me put it this way. NYI wont be able to replace the sheer number of players that they will need too before the younger players on the roster are out of their prime. Welcome to rebuilding 101

I mean you can fill that need with younger UFA’s as well as college and European players. Ask Colorado or Florida.

Are you sure about that? Not sure Logan O Connor is going to save and replace over half of NYI's roster.

Neither COL nor FLA created any substantial portion of their rosters through UFA. They both went heavily drafting for their cores and trades for the rest. The only players either obtained through UFA are smaller depth signings.

Maybe you're confusing them with VAN

Enjoy that blue and orange kool aid fam.

I'll restate it again though: NYI couldn't give a flying **** about younger forwards because they have 2-3 years max left in their window. Its why they are willing to sign a 32 year old Kadri until he is 39, because in a few years from now the team will be hot trash so they only care about the now.

Your opinion is nothing more than delusional NYI fan and has no basis in reality because you are valuing what you wish would be true rather than what actually is. Your high risk boom/bust prospect fell all the way to 52nd overall for a reason and he isn't some special star player, NYI is just a bottom 5ish prospect system so there is literally no one else worth a damn to get excited about.

The isles window is already closed, Im actually rooting for Kadri to fail. I could care less. With your logic about younger players the isles should have already gotten rid of Dobson, Wahlstrom, Barzal et .

Raty falling to 52 is irrelevant - and he's also not a boom or bust prospect, you cleary don't understand what that term means. If you want to talk truth, Raty's D+1 in liiga put him on a top 6 trajectory, put up similar numbers to Anton Lundell. In his draft year he had incredible underlying numbers for an 18 YO, but wasn't getting the proper ice time/PP time. I can tell you are triggered because you keep taking shots and bringing up things that do not matter.

The trade you proposed would immediately go down as the worst trade in isles history, and this is a team that traded Zdeno Chara.

There is a lot of silliness here so let me reclarify.

Ive stated that I think NYI has ~2 more years where they can try to compete with not much downside to not doing so.

For the absurd homerism on Raty, let me instead say go to any credible top 100 prospects list and see if he is even on there at all. That should highlight how silly the valuation of him is. The reference to him falling to 52 is very valid because if you actually followed prospects you would know he was rated as a 1st round pick for quite some time before his draft year where he fell sharply. Although that aspect of the conversation is clearly well above the one that is happening here.

You ultimately can't see past your home town bias.

You're underrating just how many truly horrid NYI deals there have been in the past lol

Most credible prospect lists have him well inside the top 100. It's not valid because his team played a big role in drop in his production. Context matters, Karpat are known to favor vets, once Raty got an opportunity on a new team he put up elite numbers. If you want to ignore the facts, that's on you.
