Would be a great cap scenario to start the year in for the Canucks. If they pull this trade off or a veraion of it, then waive Dickinson and Poolman prior to the start of the season they can get as close to the cap as possible before putting Ferland on LTIR to maximize their LTI relief.

I think most would agree neither waived player would get claimed..

Thoughts on the trade? I think is pretty close in value. Canucks get a younger center that fits with their cores timeline, fill a positional need on RD and a mid to late 1st. Canes get a difference maker to push for a cup. Can also easily resign the player. With Patches now out for 6+ months as well they need another top 6 piece.
