Quoting: Kjell_Forsman
Meier: Power Forward, 70+ point producer, can handle himself net front with the toughest players in the league, plays with an edge, hits hard, skates extremely well, fast, has an elite wrist shot, backchecks, plays both special teams, hasn't even reached his potential on offense yet.
the 10mil QO is so overplayed. He will sign in SJ long-term for around 8.5x8. Remember Wilson added the QO not Grier. Grier is going to navigate around it.
50 times maybe an exaggeration. BUT KK has reached 30 points once. That's 34 points...ONE time. Timo has reached 60+ points twice also getting 76 in 77 games last year. He is at LEAST 20x the player. Sorry but it is very true.
Wilson put it in but if Meier doesn't want to endure a rebuild, you're paying him 10 million a year. If you don't want to, he's a free agent. Call it overpaid, he's not in a good contractual position.
Kotkaniemi is an elite playdriver with shockingly amazing defensive numbers. Meiers are above replacement, but there's not comparable defensively. Kotkaniemi has 29 this year in just 66 games. He was on pace this year to set a new career high in points with 36. He set a new career high in goals. He did this while either playing out of position, or on the 4th line. Sometimes both. Meier is undoubtedly better, but to say he's 20 times better than Kotkaniemi? No. I'd argue he's not 5x better than KK. Maybe 3. I could see the argument there.
Also, calling Meier a power forward is very generous... VERY generous. Tom Wilson is a power forward. I wouldn't put Meier in that same category. He's not a push over, but cahman.
