They won't trade Barzal just because they are signing Kadri. Let's just pretend they were willing to trade him though, it would start at Larkin+.

If would start with Raymond, Seider or Edvinsson. It wouldn’t start with a pending ufa winger and two prospects who won’t be nearly as good as Barzal.

Zero chance that Lou Lamoriello takes Tyler Bertuzzi, He demands that all his players be vaxxed which Betuzzi isn't. Switch Bertuzzi with Vrana and perhaps he might consider it, And then it's still extremely doubtful.

So are we going to pay Barzal and Larkin $9,000,000 per each and then pay Seider $10,000,000 and Raymond $7,000,000 to $8,000,000 per each.

Because this is a very real scenario, And i don't want to be like Tampa, Toronto and Vegas with cap hell and have a worry about shedding salary in a few short years.

No thank you, Let's just stay the course.

Raymond and Seider would be out of the question, I think Edvinsson could be an option but I don't think Yzerman would be keen on trading him or that he would be on Lou's radar. Since they don't have the cap they wouldn't take Bertuzzi probably, otherwise I would have suggested Larkin+Bertuzzi (if he gets vaxxed)+a prospect+1st.

If Larkin was coming with an extension, maybe Barzal+Bailey for Larkin+Bertuzzi+1st/prospect

Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider are off the table, Doubt Steve Yzeman would even move Simon Edvinsson but if there is some truth that Steve Yzerman is after Matthew Barzal then Simon Edvinsson has to at least be made available.

Moritz Seider is an elite franchise top pairing RHD, More than likely in 5 years or so he'll be at least top 15 in the league and a Norris candidate. Seider by himself is worth as much as 2 years of Barzal and more. Barzal alone doesn't even come close to either Raymond and Seider.

Vrana+Edvinsson+Detroit's 2023 1st round pick alone is overpay for 2 years of Matthew Barzal.

Sorry but Larkin-Bertuzzi+1st/prospects is a major overpay for Barzal and Bailey has little to no value you'd need to add a sweetener to Bailey to move him.

The difference between Larkin and Barzal is no more than a 2nd round pick or B prospect nothing more nothing less.

Yzerman isn't dealing Larkin for Barzal, That defeats the whole purpose of trading for Barzal in the first place. The whole idea is to have Barzal and Larkin as our 1C and 2C respectively or you can flip them. Anyways Lou isn't moving Barzal and we're not giving up major assets for him either.

The purpose of having Kadri would also be having a 1 and 2C, obviously neither guy is just going to get traded for no reason. Difference between Larkin and Barzal is more than a second probably. Yzerman might not plan on signing Bertuzzi and who knows what he's getting in terms of offer. Bailey doesn't help them but doesn't impede them either. It's definitely an overpay for Barzal but if there's a reason for both sides to trade their star centers, then it's a possibility. The 1st is probably much though if Larkin is resigned.

I never said they should trade Seider for Barzal. I said they would have to in order to get a 1C. There isn’t actually any concern about signing Barzal in NY so idk why people keep acting like they have him for two years lol.

There’s a huge difference between Larkin and Barzal. Any conversation that equates the two shouldn’t be taken seriously.

I mean u couldn’t be more wrong about Barzal’s value. I never said Detroit should do it. U r usually better off keeping ur own young talent than trading it for someone else’s.

I never said that the Islanders would have Barzal for only 2 years, I said if Detroit for some reason traded for him if Lou moved him which he wont. Then Detroit might only have him for 2 seasons.

Oh this i totally agree with, Yzerman might have asked Lou about Barzal. And i'm sure it didn't get far even though there was some kind of offer that Yzerman supposedly made for him. And who know's if that's even factual as it was reported by some twitter dude.

If Barzal was even available, it would be Larkin, Edvinsson or Raymond, and a 1st. But I'm not sold on that offer. For me to trade a player like Barzal who I don't have to move, I'd want to be the clear winner, which isn't easy when giving up a potential superstar talent. He's an incredibly talented player who performs well offensively on a defensively oriented team. On a team more suited for him, he could be amazing. Probably a consistent 90-100 point player.

Ignoring their contract situations, there is a year difference between the two in Barzal's favor, a 0.2 PPG rate in favor of Barzal (only a difference of 0.049 in terms of 5v5 points), 0.04 GPG in favor of Larkin, 8.5% in the faceoff circle for Larkin5v5. If both guys were extended to a 10mx8 and then traded for each other, it's not far fetched to think that Barzal would get Larkin+ a 1st even if that is an overpay that is or in other words no matter how close they might actually be.

Same could be said for Larkin, there's no way Raymond is going to be thrown in there. If he is then that would be a steal for NYI and could very well be a good deal in hindsight even if Larkin were to walk.

Barzal has some of the best possession numbers in the league and generates a crazy number of opportunities. If you compare them just based on points then ur deliberately downplaying his talent and accomplishments.

Possession comes with the territory, he's a playmaker. Barzal is going to be the more valuable player, there's no arguing that, but in a bubble they aren't too far. Larkin+ a 1st isn't really a nothing offer, that's assuming that both are signed with term, if you if it's Larkin without an extension, probably something similar to the Tkachuk trade, Barzal for Larkin+a great prospect (maybe Edvindsson, not Raymond or Seider)+ a 1st and probably something else since Barzal is the better player while Huberdeau was the best player in the Tkachuk trade.

Not worth it for NY. I don’t even like the Tkachuk trade for Calgary because long term they ****ed up their cap situation.

A trade where there is Barzal for Larkin+, is probably not worth it for either team unless the players want out.

As for the Tkachuk trade, getting Huberdeau and signing him isn't really messing up their cap situation, since it's at most only 1m more than signing either Tkachuk or Gaudreau (and only 500k more than that final last minute offer). Yes, Tkachuk is going to be signed through his best years on his current contract, but how good is he actually, and how long he will last with his style of play is yet to be determined, perhaps he's only a PPG for most of it and drops off. On the other hand, with his style and skill set, it's very possible that Huberdeau has longevity through his career as long as he's still able to skate. They have most of their contracts coming off the books, in a couple of years, so as long as they are aware of that 10m cap hit, they shouldn't run into problems.

That’s a lot of it’s with Huberdeau. I don’t think anyone should think that Tkachuck won’t be the better player over the next 8 years lol.
