Personally just dont know enough about the prospects tbh but in my mind i dont like rushing new nhlers their first year rather ease them into system until find a lroper spot for them instead of throwing them into a 3rd checking line(physical) might get more minutes in that role but wouldnt be utilizing them correctly. But i think mercer and holtz move around throughout the year line wise

New Jersey's rebuild is going just fine. Boqvist looks like he's proven to be a NHLer while Hoglander hasn't; Nemec looks like an early Calder Trophy candidate soon and Norris Trophy possibility later, and Siegenthaler and the first more than make up for any difference between Nemec and Hughes. That's an immediate NO from the Devils.

I had heard that Bernier's career is over due to his medical problems, and Anaheim is already over the cap floor thanks to the Klingberg signing, which was in all of the newspapers, so that trade is the ultimate in non-starters.

You must not understand longterm moves then for a team that would maybe make a wild card seed this year without any trades done or could be in the same spot with these trades done to end up in the same spot while getting future pieces to use with an already young team

Bernier needs multiple hip surgeries and he has only gotten one thus far (~6 month recovery time)...so at least his time on Devils is likely over, but if there were a comeback, it would be not until 2023-24. He'll just sit on our LTIR for a year, collect his (insured) salary and hang 'em up then.
