They were one of the closest to making it last year , added a 100pt player. If Elvis bounces back, I could totally see it

Okay a few things:

NYR over CAR? I don't get that. Carolina strengthened more than NYR did this summer, and Shesterkin cannot sustain a .940 sv%. Their defense still has a lot of issues. Can you explain this?

PIT missing with WSH making it? I think WSH is closer to dropping out. Purely on the basis that Crosby and Malkin are a better duo down the middle than Kuznetsov and Eller... plus Jarry is better than Kuemper.

Ottawa making it is bold. They still have a lot of issues defensively, they might not have a couple of top 6 forwards either due to reasons beyond their control.

I originally had Carolina over Rangers but changed it because Shesterkin . Also if Kotkaniemi is playing 2C it’s a question mark.

Washington was tough to put but I like their additions and team and depth.

Ottawa will make it . Batherson and Formenton haven’t been convicted of anything yet or even named . And they will likely add a Dman before camp. They could have 5 65+ Pts players and Sanderson will be good on D as well as Zub and Holden and Chabot

You seem to think Carolina don't have Andersen who basically did the same thing. And you say that KK at 2C is a question mark. You think Kreider is going to score 40 goals again? Zibanejad always misses time due to injuries, so when Trocheck is playing 1C to fill that gap, you think Chytil is a better 2C? That blueline is awful, and they fired Nemeth into the desert already... you really think they win the Metro? I really don't see it here. Laf gets another year, yeah... so does Jarvis. Carolina's blueline is undoubtedly stronger. NYR's backup situation got worse. I'm really struggling to understand this.

Their depth is strong but their top end talent is Ovechkin, Oshie, Kuznetsov, Wilson, and... that is about it. Backstrom is out for a long time. Mantha is injury prone. McMichael is a stud, but I really don't see him at the top 6 level yet.

I really struggle seeing Ottawa having 5 65 point guys. They had 1 last year. Cat is going to be fine, but... I struggle to see it. I have questions about Norris' sustainability. Batherson the same. Both suddenly hit a point per game and it doesn't seem a little out of the blue considering they'd never shown this kind of capability before? I'd like to see it before I put them into a playoff spot. I personally have them 5th in the Atlantic, and both Metro wild card.

Batherson 44pts in 46 games
Norris 55pts in 66 games
Tkachuk 67 points
Debrincat had 78
Stutzle had 58pts with bad linemates
Giroux was over 60
Chabot will at least have 50

They didn’t suddenly it was their first real season. Both were always really good but no one knew about them cuz they played in Ottawa

I don't see Gaudreau getting close to 115 points on the Jackets. He was on the best line in hockey last year to having Boone Jenner as his center. They also lost a 60 point player in Bjorkstrand.

As I said, Batherson and Norris have sustainability question marks.
Tkachuk was their only one last year.
Cat will probably do it so that is 2.
Stutzle could take that step, but he's also developing a reputation as a diver so there's going to likely be less given against him which allows for a tighter coverage. He still hasn't hit 65. He has the change, but he's not proven he can do it yet.
Giroux had 42 on Philly before he moved to the offense on steriods we call the Panthers. He's also almost 35 and primed for regression.
Chabot might hit 50, but that's not the 65 point player you were claiming.

Chill out here. I think your showing the bias here a little. Ottawa will be good, and will be a playoff team eventually, I'm just not convinced it is this year with that blueline.

They both had over 30pts the previous year in the shortened season. It’s expected for players in their low to mid 20s to get better

Statistically, the apex of a players career is 22. They should get better, but both had injury-riddled seasons, and are not certain of getting back to what they were. It's assuming something that is very very questionable.

That is such a pessimistic outlook. Batherson player very well for Canada this summer and Norris came back and lit it up lmao.

It's not pessimistic, it's realistic. Injuries hamper development and cause major setbacks. It's a story in sports that are told way too often. I want to be wrong, but I'd like to see them this year before I start saying Ottawa has everything they need.

Don’t see Columbus in the playoffs, that d core is suspect at best imo, I hope I’m wrong but I can’t see them being better then NJD, Crosby or NYI.

I’m also not sure how Columbus’s center core is going to go, it’s not the best, but MIN was good with Hartman as the 1c so who knows.

Hard to say.

The Flames will be very solid defensively. They still have arguably the best goalie in the division.

EDM is relying on Campbell, he’s never played 50+ in a season and a rookie in Skinner.

I think the teams will be close in points and it could go either way

I am not scared of them in the slightest, Weegar isn't going to much stop 91-97-29, Markstrom has statistically not been good against the Oilers in his career and he was terrible for them in the playoffs
