Sorry man, but that DAL trade is horrendously bad for the Stars. And if 2x3.5 for Oettinger would get it done, DAL would have had him locked up ages ago.

Jackets pass. Can’t afford Armia’s cap hit (nor is there room on the roster for another forward), don’t have space for an LD, and not trading a defensive D for pieces that don’t move the needle.

Dallas is going to trade away their starting goaltender and a top-6 RW for THAT mess of pottage? Drouin and Allen are rentals, for goodness' sake, and Oettinger could be under team control for 5 or 6 years.

Stars decline that garbage (Roy is a good prospect, but apart from that…), that couldn’t be even get Otter alone, never-mind Gurianov.

And he isn’t signing for less than he wants from Dallas, in Montreal (considering taxes and all that).

That Stars trade is a disaster, and the Otter contract is even more.

Good lord. That Washington deal is laughable, as Edmundson is at best 3rd pairing in DC, and both he and Hoffman are completely unneeded and certainly not worth giving up a good LD prospect and one of the most underrated and solid defenseman in the league in Jensen.

The Stars trade is also horrible, Oettinger alone more than that with Roy being the only interesting piece from Jim Nill’s point of view, with Gurianov added costing even more.

Well, that and the whole "adding another forward we don't have roster room for" thing.
