Description

Necas is a RW. Are they going to convert him to centre? Kadri. Stastny, and Rodrigues are the best remaining UFAs that could potentially fill the 2C role. Bergeron technically is also available, but he's likely staying in Boston. Even with the loss of Trochek, the Canes should be the best team in the East. Andersen has revived his career in Carolina and Raanta has proved to be a solid backup. They still should be able to roll 4 forward lines and 3 d pairs.

He's not skating again. He's PLAYING in the Minnesotan summer league, with guys like Brady Skjei, Derek Stepan etc. He's healthy.

At his end of season press he said he wants to play center, I think he and KK will both have their time at 2C

Gardiner can’t be LTIR. He’s either playing, bought out (lot of uncertainty on if this is even a possibility) or would have to be traded in a cap dump.

Realistically he’ll stay and play and they likely move Bear.

KK won’t play on the wing. He looked much worse in that experiment last year. He’ll get his shot at 2C and if he can’t hang or Necas beats him out he’ll be 4C again and shift to 3C next year when Staal deal is up.

Im just under the impression at this point is KK is Staals replacement at the physical 3rd liner we need, i do believe he gets Center minutes but needs to play on a physical line and fill nino’s spot. Showed a lot of promise in playoffs to fill Staals spot, wether Staal plays center or winger this season. And i don’t believe Drury should be rushed into a role that requires more from him

Too early to tell on KK - big opportunity this year and front office / coaches clearly believe he can be a 2C. I think his floor is a 3C so the contract should be fine either way. Staal def won’t be playing wing this season. Necas and KK will be battling for 2C but injuries could dictate where Necas plays too (injury to a top 6F could put him back in as a wing in top 6).

I honestly don’t think Bear is getting traded, based on Waddell’s comments after they signed him I think they want to see what he can do with a full healthy season. He was playing well before he got Covid and I think that really affected his play.

I mean I think Bear had some rough luck last year and I think he’d do well in a sheltered role with the canes this year but something’s gotta give assuming we do keep Necas. Gardiner and Bear are the logical options and Bear should be much easier to move. If the team wants to and is able to buyout Gardiner this week than maybe that’s the answer but I’m honestly not sure what they’re thinking of doing at this point. Should get clarity this week though I’d imagine
