Time to Relocate to Portland

Description
IMHO, the coyotes are in a great position to build a dynasty. The only issue is that they are still in Arizona, and they need to be relocated to a Hockey City: A) where players want to sign longterm; and B) where revenue floweth freely. If you are the coyotes, long term futures are the best play. You can only have so many contracts at any given time picks 2 years out in exchange for dead cap now sets them up for draft capital when these bad contracts expire. Moreover, players like Keller and Chychrun only see diminished value playing on a team perpetually rebuilding. They should be traded for picks and prospects along with any AAV to facilitate the trade. The only difficulty I can really see is that most players on bad contracts have NMC or M-NTCs and Arizona isn't likely on their lists. I'm assuming ghost could also be flipped at TD day, but it wasn't in the cards to speculate in who would need him that far out. Stripping this team down to prospects and picks gives them the best shot a Bedard and a clean start in a new city (hopefully).

That’s a FAT FN no from San Jose. Not remotely close at all. Labanc is a good player who got injured that doesn’t have that bad of a contract that has a very light buyout. A 1st and a 2nd is way off.

He has only cracked 50 pts once, and is making 4.75MM AAV. With all the bad contracts the Sharks have, this is one they could get out from under. Nobody is taking Couture, Erikson, Vlasic, or Hertl at those AAVs.

Why would they fork up these kinds of assets to move him when the buyout is less than a mil the first two years and just under 2 mil the next two? That’s an easy buyout. Moving a 1, 2nd and 5th for that is ridiculous. In the 4 season prior to this year he averaged .53 ppg, it’s not like the contract is that bad, especially with some of the contracts that have been handed out. He also is by far the most mismanaged player on the team by a mile.

There is still a 2MM cap hit the last two years of the buyout. If you're keeping LeBlanc, then you're retaining salary to move someone else. It's gonna be hard for a team to remain remotely competitive with that many bad contracts on the books. Even when the Salary Cap hits 90MM, other teams will also be able to spend more, and salaries will rise. If not lablanc, then who is going to be able to be moved? Moreover, without having to pay for it?

A short answer for your rant, the nhl will never move another young up and coming team on the poise of greatness, Quebec was enough. Did Pittsburgh move? No. Every single owner is on board with Tempe, give it up

Also safe to assume you’re not an albertan, they overrun Arizona in the winter. No one wants to live in Portland

This is a massive overpay to move Labanc. He’s still a good player with high bounceback percentage. And if not, the buyout is cheap af.

“No one wants to live in Portland”

It’s an extremely popular city amongst 20 somethings in the US. Not to mention the landscapes in that part of the country are incredible.

    So yeah, pretty flippant comment.

I suspect, as many have, that waiting to see if Formenton is implicated in the Canadian WJC assault is what is holding up a Chychrun trade to OTT.
Don't believe OTT would include Pinto in a deal. But I'd certainly offer the 2023 1st (top 3 protected), Bernard-Docker and Jarventie, and I highly doubt there's a better offer on the table.

Oregon itself is great, but it’s no destination in the NBA and it’s not any more of a destination for NHLers. Great outdoor state, but you could say the exact same about Arizona and the air quality isn’t being ravaged by wildfires, it’s just your run of the mill smog here

I'm Albertan, and only our old snowbirds go to Arizona in the winter. Portland is full of strippers breweries and fun.
