I don't think the Sens would help the Leafs free up space to sign Weegar when the Sens themselves are very interested in him.

Hopefully Weegar extends with the Flames. If he hits free agency and gets paid 7m, he'll probably be considered 2m overpaid in 2 years time, and 3m+ in 4. You have him signed for 5 years but considering he will be 29 when he signs, he's at the very least going to get a 6 year deal that takes him until he's 36. Signing him for 6mx6 would be more favorable for teams instead of 7mx5, since it saves some cap, and easier for other teams to fit him under their cap if they need to trade him.

For Calgary's sake I hope he resigns there too, but I wouldn't complain if he signed with the Leafs for 6.5-7 million
