Description

Just seeing if TOR could match

Kerfoot and Holl are the obvious choices to move to clear space, but even if they move them with no cap coming back its not enough to make it under the cap. This forces TOR to also send down Aube Kubel or Simmonds while using league minimum contracts on their roster instead (Anderson, Gaudette, Benn, etc). Even with all of these moves TOR can only field a 21 man roster and they take a significant hit to their depth in the process

Another option would be to move Muzzin but I cant imagine that would come cheap. With so many teams needing to dump cap and so few teams able & willing to take them TOR would be hard pressed to find a suitor unless they cough up a lot of assets

With a LD core of Rielly, Giordano, and Muzzin, I think TOR would end up taking the 2nd round pick and moving on from Sandin

I agree Leafs shouldnt match, but I think for a team like ANA it makes some sense to sign him for that. They have plenty of cap space and no real 2LD on their roster. Best case scenario is he turns into a legit top 4 D man that only cost a 2nd to acquire, worst case scenario is he doesnt live up to the contract and they can let him walk after. I think its worth the risk for them

Or because Anaheim is clearly missing a 2 LD Leafs ship a 2nd rnd pick to Anaheim along with Muzzin and Anaheim gets an actual 2 LD who in 2 seasons they can choose to let walk or resign to a team friendly contract to hold down their 3rd pair

As time passes the chances of an OS that big have pretty much disappeared

If he was to be OS it would have been done a few weeks ago as now teams have spent their cap. Sure there are some who got space but they be tanking for Bedard and a guy like Sandin hurts that

I believe both sides are standing pat with Sandin overvaluing himself at 2.6mill and Leafs standing pat at 1.4mill (Basically what Liligren got)

Will be interesting to see if they go down the middle and sign a 1.8mill x 2 year deal or if hes traded for a good bottom 6 forward
