No reason to move Iorio so I guess a 1st? He’s a 2nd round pick that has impressed since being drafted (within the organization) we are pretty strong at all positions farm wise so … yeah

I'd want another 1st instead of the 2nd or 3rd. Savard is getting up there in age.

For Spence, I know the Kings have a large analytics dept, and are likely higher on him than even Durzi. That being said the Kings really have two areas to improve:

A young established left shot defenseman and (maybe if Cal Petersen doesn’t break out this season) a top-10 goalie prospect. The kings would give up multiple assets for those, but I don’t see that player in Montreal or for sale.

Yes, I knew that, just Spence is going buried on the Kings depth charts below Grans and Clarke in the near future so I figured he might be available. I figured Cuelemans and Iorio would be hard sells as well lol.

Really, I would have thought the Kings value chart went something like

Clarke, Durzi, Grans, Spence

Villeneuve isn’t really in the top 5 prospects for the Leafs because he’s pretty far away from the show.

I don’t know a ton about him but it looks like this upcoming year is his first big season in the AHL.

Hopefully he’ll be a call up in 2 years when we need RD.

would be a really cheap shut down RD tho which I think we could use but yeah, I can see how we would want more. Maybe they pay someone else to retain another 25% on him if we getting greedy

Really, I would have thought the Kings value chart went something like

Clarke, Durzi, Grans, Spence

NHL readiness is: Durzi, Spence, Clarke, Grans

The actual players we thought were going to be the high ceiling were Clarke and Grans. But Spence in his first pro year was an absolute knockout AHL all star, led rookie defensemen, and got nearly 20 games in the NHL.

Durzi has been pro for 3 years, and finally broke out, while his offense is drew doughty lite, he has some defensive flaws. If Spence can steal the job from Durzi or even switch to left side, I think Durzi’s days here are numbed.

In the meantime the Kings are playing with house cash, they can just keep bolstering the players values and pick which ones they want to move.

Clarke and Grans are pure futures, while Durzi and Spence have virtually proven that they'll be NHLers. It would be hard to rank them meaningfully in some kind of realistic order.

At least a first for Tuomisto, he is developing just fine at Denver and could see him in Detroit in 2 years. He was a 35th overall pick so no reason to trade him for anything less than an upgrade considering we have developed him for 3 years already.

There's just no room for any more salary, and vanishingly few teams to dump to. It's just not worth the cost. Ceulemans has too much value to trade him just to bring David Savard back. He'd be a good starting point in a JT Miller trade with Vancouver, though (I don't think that should happen either ftr).

yeah, we have like 2 million of cap after we send guys down so JT would be hard to get unless we send Cap back. I'd love JT tho and if we can extend him I think we start to compete for a Cup very soon.

I agree. His potential is as high as it’s ever been and he’s really done nothing to diminish or reduce his value. I’d move him in a package deal for an NHL ready player that makes the team better but if it’s for a pick, I’m with you.

Yeah, he isn’t an absolute sure thing by any means but there’s no reason for him to be moved in a deal for a pick.

Would probably require a solid RHD with a relatively low cap hit, and if TOR needs to add, the overall cost must be moderate to cheap. Maybe Savard at 2.5m?

So you think Durzi would be the most likely guy on the move then? TBH I would take any one of those prospects, who do you think is the most likely to go and what would be the cost to acquire them?

Outside of Suzuki, Caulfield, and JS, there really isn't a player on MTL's roster I am interested in. You'd have to just throw a 1st at us.

Yeah, I want nothing to do with Savard on that current contract, unless MTL is adding. Even with retention, frankly. Guy is a net-negative for me at this point.

I'm not even sure what the cost is. Taking on bad salary in a flat-cap environment is becoming increasingly expensive, so the add cost for MTL is likely prohibitive, to say the least.
