Retain some salary and you might get a 3rd with it.

Both guys are old and under the half point per game mark. Suter is still a reliable defence.

1 for 1 would be a fair trade

Why is Dallas adding a pick to take the more expensive less useful player?

Cause he has more years left and hornqvist could fetch a fair return at 50% retained panthers just can’t afford that not sure Dallas can or not.

Hornqvist is a bad contract. Suter is not. Where are you sending Hornqvist for value? Everybody with cap space is gonna be looking to receive value for taking on cap. Not give value for below replacement level players. There’s multiple teams already over the cap. Teams with cap space are just gonna sit back and wait til the offers get really good. I could absolutely be wrong. Bad moves are made. But Columbus gave up Bjork for nothing because the cost to move Nyquist was substantial and Nyquist is better than Hornqvist

He is not worth 3.6 million for 2 more years. But hornqvists ends this year so retaining 50% come half way mark will net you a decent pick.

He isn’t? That’s pretty good value for a dman that can eat minutes and score 30 points. Just because Dallas fans on this site don’t care for him doesn’t mean he isn’t a useful player at a reasonable cap hit. I’ll happily say I’m wrong if Florida gets anything decent for Hornqvist, but it isn’t gonna happen. 50% retained also doesn’t clear enough money for Florida to be under the cap when Duclair comes off LTIR. Suter’s buyout is extremely reasonable if his play falls off. And we don’t HAVE TO move him. Florida is over the cap and has to move money. Which is a big deal when it comes to leverage. Like I said if Columbus chose to trade Bjork for so little because the cost to move Nyquist was so high…. You’re gonna be upset if they decide to move Hornqvist

Man you dont read the comments. I said the panthers can’t afford to retain on him. But if this trade went through Dallas will get a decent pick if they were to retain him

I read just fine. You’re all over the place. If they retain 50% but they can’t retain 50%. You say “come half way mark”, but they can’t wait til the half way mark they’re over the cap right now. Now Dallas is getting the pick? What is it?

I give up. You’re obviously not comprehending that if this trade went through like what’s in this agm.

You aren’t explaining very well. If you’d like to start fresh I’m down. I’m not trying to come across as rude. It’s just frustrating when everybody on this site acts like moving bad cap is no big deal when they’re trying to move it. Then when somebody else tries to move it all of a sudden they know that cap is hard to move. Like poof magic. Also I’m over everybody dumping on Suter who is a reasonably priced veteran defenseman that plays at or slightly above his pay rate. But let’s get so mad about losing Klinger who is a train wreck 5v5 and wanted Seth Jones money. Bye Felicia
