Trading a whole bunch of mediocre to Buffalo for 2nd round picks is part of the Yzerplan? Does Kevyn Adams know? Because theres no way he trades for any of those players, and why would they even be trading for a pending UFA depth Dman at the TDL to begin with?

Knowing how Yzerman values vet defenders, the leafs will be getting Detroits 1st for muzzin

First trade doesn't make sense for either team.
Second trade might make sense but probably not for Ottawa.
Third trade Toronto likely doesn't consider.
Arizona likely doesn't consider that as well.

Sens Decline,

They have Pinto as 3 C and plenty of bottom six players & prospects on the wing.

Just doesn't seem likely , teams like Ottawa and Arizona won't buy ufas unless they somehow are making playoff runs.

Why would Detroit make the Buffalo trade?

There's no way Buffalo is making the playoffs over Detroit, They've done nothing to better their roster. Anderson and Comrie isn't getting Buffalo intothe playoffs

Ottawa passes, They don't need more Center depth.

And on what planet is Timothy Liljegren better than Filip Hronek. Detroit passes big time..

Why would Buffalo do that? Zadina would be drowning even more than he is in Detroit, with all of Buffalos prospects coming up

Buffalo is better than Detroit. Throwing money away on UFAs that are past their prime doesnt make you a better team, drafting and developing well and bringing those players up does

I think you overlooked the 1st round pick in the toronto trade. I agree with you for the other 2 trades unless Maybe ottawa ends up being a contender and has an injury near the deadline

Detroit is signing UFAs so that they don't need to rush there prospects into the nhl. Pretty sure Stevie Y has a better track record developing prospects than anyone that Buffalo has had running things in recent memory

The only one past his prime is David Perron, Andrew Copp, Olli Maatta, Dominik Kubalik, Ville Husso are hardly past their prime. Husso+Nedeljkovic > > > > > Anderson+Comrie and it's not even close. Thinking that the current Buffalo team that has done nothing to improve their roster over Detroit is pure laughable.

Agree with everything but the bolded. Didn't better their roster? They added Quinn, Power, Lyubushkin, Comrie, a full season of Tuch and potentially Peterka while removing Butcher, Hagg, Pysyk, Miller, Eakin, Hayden, Tokarski and Dell. That IS roster improvement in addition to the potential growth from Cozens, Krebs etc. You don't have to sign 10 UFA's to improve a team when you have ways to improve from within.

No they won't likely make the playoffs. Comrie has just as much of a chance at having a good season as someone like Husso, and I fail to see any massive upgrades to Detroits defense regardless. Yzerman added a lot of 3rd pairing guys and Chiarot who might be the most overrated UFA defenseman this past season. Copp will help sure, and Perron can add some scoring but how much any of those UFA additions improve the team remains to be seen. Could just as easily argue Husso and Ned aren't getting Detroit into the playoffs either.

More like knowing how poorly Dubas makes out with cap dumps, Detroit will be getting Toronto's 2023 first round pick along with Muzzin for future considerations.

The Sabres have drafted tons of talent, but they traded a lot away on locker room cancers.

well you see the difference there is that Dubas has gotten something good and valuable for his cap dumps every time while yzerman has given 7 defenders like chariot almost 5 million per year with term

Yzerman got bored of Detroit’s rebuild even though they went 14-24-3 down the last 41 games of the season which was the same record as 32nd place Montreal. Spending 22 million dollars in free agency on 2nd and 3rd line players and giving a big contract to Chiarot to fix their awful defense isn’t going to make Detroit a playoff team. Baby steps let’s see if they can pass the Sabres in the standings this year.

Maatta is a mediocre talent, Kubalik wasnt even good enough for Chicago of all teams to qualify him, Husso is as much of a question mark as Nedeljkovic (see Carter Hutton for an example). Aside from Seider Detroits defense is terrible, their offense is mediocre, they had the 7th least goals for in the league and added Copp, Perron, and Kubalik. You are solely focused on the Sabres goaltending, yet Anderson was on pace for 30+ wins last year but missed half the year, and Comrie had the 2nd best analytics for goalies with more than 25 starts. The Sabres didnt need to add anyone via trade or UFA. Their d is one of the best in the conference with Power, Dahlin, and Samuelsson, and their offense is adding Quinn and probably Peterka, this year

dude gave chariot 4.7x4 to be a bad 7th defender and Maatta almost half that to do the same. If he thinks those guys are worth that then Muzzin must be worth a fortune to him. Hell, even holl is significantly better than both

Well you totally miss-read that! What he did was fill holes in the roster and only gave up a 3rd round pick doing so. The reason he did it this way is so he doesn't have to give up any assets for overpaid under performing dmen like Muzzin. Detroit's best defenseman is in his 2nd year and they will have a rookie in their top 6 this season.
