Why pay for Seguin

That isn’t paying for Seguin. That’s swapping him for Hayes. No thank you

Hayes and Seguin have about the same value right now… Hayes was on pace for 52 last year while Seguin away at 49

One for one is a fair offer but I don’t think either team does that

Pass I like Seguin but no reason to swap Hayes for a worse Contract.

Stars are saving $4M and Hayes contract is a year shorter than Seguin's. The only question I'd have about the trade is whether Hayes will be healthy for a full season. Aside from that, Dallas is essentially getting an identical player, in terms of production, for nearly half the cost & on a shorter contract. Add in to that a young, NHL ready bottom-4 RD, and another forward prospect and Dallas comes out pretty far ahead in this trade.

I guess I’m higher on Segs than most. I think he can still be a 60-70 point guy put into the right situation
