Ok these cap dump demands r starting to get ridiculous. R u sending Bertuzzi to Toronto in that deal?
Ridiculous is giving up Bert for: Muzzin who is overpaid, and only played 47 games last season while making 5.6M Robertson who is not his brother, and also is undersized and has injury concerns. Abruzzese who is 23 and seems like an undersized AHL guy. A late first rounder. Not even the team’s own third pick (I understand it’s the better of the two).
To get quality you have to give quality. You want a gritty and skilled 1st or 2nd liner who can put up 30 goals, it’s going to cost more than just who/what you don’t want.
Tor receives: Bertuzzi (add retention if you’d like, that will adjust pieces coming back
Det receives: Matt Knies, 2023 first rounder (probably 25-30), 2024 first rounder (probably similar position), Muzzin cap dump to offset cap balance.
That’s the start, and even with that it’s on Detroit to want to do it. Perfectly fine re-signing Bert and keeping him around. Not to mention other teams would have offers way better than what was proposed.
