I don't understand the strategy here. You've got a 20-man roster and no cap space, so it makes sense to trade Kerfoot away and use that $3.5 million to bring in four players at $850,000 or less each. Instead, you've exchanged one year of Kerfoot for two seasons of Crouse at the same cap hit, thereby extending your problem another year plus bringing Crouse straight to free agency. That trade would barely make sense if Crouse was an appreciable upgrade over Kerfoot, but I don't know that you'll get many people to agree with you there. Plus, you've compounded the error by paying Hirvonen and a first-round draft pick for the exchange.
I don't get this at all.
