Chevy lights one up

Description
Chevy decides to light one up and get the creative juices flowing. Decides to make some crazy moves.

Please don’t take this seriously, there are some moves on here that are likely super unrealistic.

My idea was to retool the roster in a way that they can still stay semi-competitive but also restock the cupboards a bit. This is likely how they want it to go as they probably want to get into the playoffs if possible (not going to happen lol).

Détails additionnels:
This is a bit of an outside the box type of idea. Minnesota is in a cap crunch but they can still be a competitive team. With that in mind, and my prediction that the jets suck out of the gate, I figured shipping a fairly low cost PLD to MIN would make sense. They acquire a top 6 C to make two stabs at the playoffs. They can retain Dubois next year for 6.6 million as that’s his QO and it would be a reasonable amount as he’ll put up points with kaprizov.

I’m unsure about the value in this deal, I love ohgren and I’m sure wild fans do as well. I used Jost for cap reasons and to swap his roster spot with PLD. I included Stanley as I feel like he’s a Guerin type player and adds some value to the deal. If this is an overpayment from MIN I totally get it and like mentioned in the description don’t take it too seriously. If you have feedback on this deal let me know.

Détails additionnels:
I don’t like the idea of moving Dillon but the jets have a desperate need to open up space on the blue line and Dillon seems like a prototypical Lou player.
3.
WPG
  1. Panarin, Artemi
Détails additionnels:
Here’s that unrealistic trade I was talking about. There’s a 99.9% chance that Panarin nixes this deal before it even starts. But for the sake of this ACGM let’s just say he waives his NMC.

Rangers get out of the panarin deal without retaining any salary. They take back wheeler who can still be a productive offensive player. The rangers also acquire Heinola and a reclamation project in Vesalainen and a 2nd round pick.

After thinking about this deal for a while I have 0 idea on what panarin will return. He’s paid a lot but is an incredible player but also aging and not know as the biggest playoff performer. This trade could be way off, I’m sure I’ve underpaid a ridiculous amount LOL.

Interesting Minnesota deal, ridiculous rangers deal. They will just keep panarin for that. I also don't think there is any rush to trade panarin as they don't really have anyone to replace him.

Isles r going with Salo on the third pair. Dillon is overpaid and not a great puck mover. NY declines.

Considering Dubois is most likely going to bolt to Montreal as soon as he can, I wouldn't touch that deal even if it does solve a big hole for us.

If you bothered to read the trade description I even said that I love ohgren and that it’s likely an overpayment from MIN. Thanks for the feedback though.

Makes total sense, I was just trying to address a need for MIN with their cap crunch in mind. I thought as well it’s an overpayment. I love ohgren.

Good to know. Dillon likely isn’t traded anyways but I just felt like he’s a total Lou type player so had to move him there.

Real issue here is the Panarin deal. Someone will give up a lot to get Dubois because in theory he can be your 1st line center. Also it’s worth mentioning that he downplayed his agents comments. I think they were just posturing tbh.

Honestly I don't think it's too terribly far off for a young center signed to a reasonable deal. I just would rather save the assets and the headache of acquiring Dubois who wouldn't want to be here in the first place. It's a pretty interesting idea though.

Only way it would happen is 1 for 1 for Josh Bailey. That deal would make pretty much no one happy imo.

I was lost on how to value panarin. He’s such a great player but a tough contract to move. Makes sense that the rangers just keep him for that price and they aren’t rushing to move him. What would a panarin package have to look like? Top prospect + quality young roster player and 1st to start?

I was lost on how to value panarin due to his contract and NMC. So yeah totally get that one being far off. Yeah honestly I’m not too upset with how Dubois has handled this off-season, I’m sure many players would do the same. Besides having their agent make comments like that haha. There will 10000% be a contender who pays a solid amount for him as they get two playoff runs out of him.

I pretty much looked at it as Minnesota is guaranteed two years of Dubois at a reasonable cost. Sure he may be gone after that, but Minnesota has cap issues and are built to win now and in the future. Trading a few pieces that don’t make a huge impact to the roster to make a deep run during some hard years would be great.

But again, I fully understand any team not wanting to deal with the Dubois headache. I tried to come up with some different ideas and not the prototypical PLD to MTL BS.

I would expect a package like that. I don't think he's a player that gets moved as he's in the city he wants to be.

Dubois has always struck me as more of a mercenary tbh. If his agent is out there saying **** it’s to raise his value imo. Not saying he wouldn’t like to play in Montreal. But u don’t always get to pick where u play in the NHL.

I don’t c a scenario where he waives either. Maybe Lou’s big move will be trading Beau and Bailey for Panarin?!?!? JK

Yeah no I agree. I feel like there a bit of responsibility on the player to show some loyalty/respect to the team that drafted or traded for them. But again, I’m all for players using the resources available to them for leverage and to get more money.

So I’m not overly upset by how the off-season has gone with Dubois.

I won't be surprised if the return from a contender will be underwhelming and whatever prospect(s) they get for Dubois won't be any better than some of the ones from Montreal that are proposed on here AND there'll be a ton of Jets fans saying they're so much happier to have gotten said prospect from the Rangers, Canes, Avs or whoever instead of the ones from Montreal.. I actually disagree there even though Guerin publicly says he wants to remain competitive this season. I think our true window is 2-3 years from now when Rossi, Boldy, Lambos, Wallstedt, and Faber are all entering their primes while Kaprizov, Brodin, and Ek are still under contract and in their primes.

The Wild outperformed expectations dramatically last year. Nobody thought we'd be as good as we were. I just don't think it's realistic to expect us to perform similarly when we lost Fiala and Talbot as well as the fact Hartman, Gaudreau, Foligno, and Zuccarello all had career years. Call me pessimistic but I'd be really surprised if those guys don't regress next season. I see us as a wild card team that won't be able to beat Colorado in a playoff series, even with someone like Dubois.

The problem with PLD is his effort level for any team that is not Montreal... He bailed on Columbus, who's to say he doesn't do the same thing to the wild. The only destination PLD would be traded to is MTL cause no one wants a cancer like him who can break at any moment on their team.
