Is the money there to resign Bert the following season? Maybe if Jarry/Dumo walks, but then you have another hole to fill. Not sure this makes sense for Pittsburgh beyond one season for a cup run.

Smith or POJ should be able to jump into that spot. I think of they give Smith a chance on the left side and don't play him on the right line jersey did most of his time there, he should blossom into a good player. That's talking of dumo walks, which they should let happen I think. With dumo and blueger off the books they should be able to resign Bert and jarry.
I feel the trade is decent value, I'm out really that high on Poulin but he Stevie thinks he's a good player then I'm all for it. We would need Zucker to have a good season to get anything for him half retained at the deadline.

Maybe, but Zucker probably has little or negative value to DET and former high prospect Poulin is pretty close to done as for being an NHL player.

So its a cap dump and 2 1sts....maybe

I think DET gets better offers with a more ready prospect/s. Or they dont make this deal until deadline.

You are certainly correct about Det not doing tgis until TDL. Would be surprised if they took a cap dump when they aren't a cap team. They will be looking to make the playoffs at the least and maybe even want to win it all in order to follow up the Avs again like in 2002 (if Detroit wins the Cup with a lot of favorable calls, I'll be convinced that the League is influencing outcomes). Taking on that kind of cap wouldn't make sense unless they were pretty much out around deadline.

Exactly.

If DET is out of it by playoffs, I could see them doing this, BUT, receiving UFA to be Zucker back only gives them somebody else to try and move at deadline, (and if hes een in PITT all season long, I cant see them moving a key piece like Zucker). Its putting alot of eggs in one basket for what is a 20-30 game slight upgrade with toughness.

PIT needs some toughness, but they need it now. Maybe a MacEwen deal

Is Burke going to let Hextall trade 2 1st rd picks even if Detroit somehow agrees to this?

If any team offers up two 1st's for Bertuzzi, The Wings will accept.
