Everyone else first and PLD if we can as RFA if not as UFA

Description
Caufield scored 22 goals and 35 pts in 37 games
For arguments sake lets say he scores 3/4 of that
That's 55-60 pts range with likely around 25-30 goals
7m makes sense especially given they hired MSL outta no where to play mentor with no Experience

Dach i clued into the other day could succeed by Dubois
Dubois is a GREAT Power Forward but a Crap Center
That said Secondary Centers to mentor youth makes a lot of sense
Put him on a Line with Dach and Anderson ... WOW our top 6 looks tough and skilled

That said i believe Dach gets a 2 year deal this year and im just signing the 1 remaining year
he'd have so he'll be on the roster. I figure 2.2m similar to Kakko

Harris gets 1750000 x 3 as at best he's Mike Reilly 2.0 and while i'm a Reilly fan actually
anything more makes him a cap problem in a deep LD system

Dvorak will have had a full season and up until TDL on another to raise his value in a system where MSL plays him at 3rd line only and so Dvorak Succeeds.(Ducharme wasnt that smart)

I see that team being NSH who's trying one last time to retool and support their aging Center and Dcore before making anymore Ellis level moves that backfire trying to keep everyone.

RS on Dvorak as a Rental who has 2 year left at 2.25m
NSH is deffinately interested as he slots in perfect with Duchene,Johnson, Dvorak and Sissons who are all 55-60% win rate guys of which 3/4 have finished top 10 NHL faceoff wins(all but sissons who gets closer each year)

The cost is high but the idea is if Dvorak doesnt fit
He's got 1 year left in which NSH can recoop assets selling

MTL waits to sign PLD as a UFA
But if they wanted to they could package what they got below for Dubois as a Rental
Personally i'd wait using Pitlick as a place holder until then
Have PLD slot in on 2nd line
We'd still have 9m + in cash thats before Price is considered
We'd have kept our best players and be able to over pay a Dubois without regretting it(for 2-3 years anyways lol)

Going this route ensure's we have a team built the Dubois as a UFA will commit to.
That said while i believe he's an Incredible Power Forward
He's put in no effort to what actually defines a Center's value and progressing there.
For that reason i think its time to stop wasting time holding him back and let him play.
He'll shoot more, use his body more along the boards and not worry about controlling Center Ice

Dubois-Dach-Anderson i believe might get good enough to help Steamrole opponents
They'll succeed in high volume and when they dont other lines will as teams try to contrain them
Dubois comes to a team that actually see's his Value as a Goal Scorer first
Maybe now he'll stop asking for a trade every 2-3 years

Slavkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield
Dubois-Dach-Anderson
Ylonen-Evans-Gally(next Tatar-Danault-Gally line)
Faksa-Glass-Armia( Faceoff Support , Size and Goal Scoring )
Pezetta

Harris-Matheson
Ghule-Barron (Future top pair just like WJC)
Xhekaj-Mailloux (2 big guys who can shoot or play physcical known for Special Teams)
Wideman(Boullion type 7D you like to keep around cause he has good work ethic)

*****EDIT*****

Its been pointed out that i should have stated the results of 2023 draft selection and MTLs pick
I think MTL gets 3rd OA not 1st and Fantilli falls into their laps
I also think Kidney will be in AHL his 2nd year leading their Team
Mysak and Beck with him most likely

RD we'll upgrade if needed with all the cap we have
Goaltending we'll find Primeau partner if needed with Price's cap hit
I didnt put Price on LTIR as im honestly not sure
His former Goalie Coach and Friend says he's recovered
He didnt say that when he tried returning last year
Instead he wished him luck and hoped everything worked out with the return
So Price could be back , He could also retire
But that's for another post in and of itself i think hahaha

MTL
  1. Glass, Cody [Droits de RFA]
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (NSH)
Détails additionnels:
Glass - given his struggles are similar to Dach's and he got half the games played in the same timeline with 31% to Dach's 38% production i'd value him at a late 1st or Early 2nd equivelant value wise in this deal

NSH has 4 Centers who average 55% FO win rate
Johnson
Duchene
Dvorak
Sissons

This is a TDL deal hence the inflated Value Dvorak at that Cap even if he produced like he did This year will still get him a lot of teams interested.

Even Plekanec got a 2nd and 2 prospects that became Kulak (who we flipped for 2nd and RFA LD) and it was his career worst year but his Faceoffs were still solid. Hanzel got i think a 1st,2nd and 4th and the list goes on. That's TDL and how many teams being in the mix will inflate the value . (if it was a summer deal no way Dvorak lands this much on a Career high year even )
NSH
  1. Dvorak, Christian (2 225 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Dvorak i just double checked actually scored 4 goals,14 assists for 18 in 22 games under MSL this year (thought it was 17 i was wrong) Point is i expect him to spend this year gathering value and the summer before the 2023-24 Roster that im currently building will see him sold off either in the Summer or at the TDL(Summer=Dubois RFA, TDL = Dubois UFA) In this Scenario im using TDL
2.
MTL
  1. Fortier, Gabriel [Droits de RFA]
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2025 (TBL)
Détails additionnels:
-Fortier or Meyers doesnt matter which
-2025 is Conditional that if TBL misses the playoffs in 2024-25 that MTL would instead recieve a 2026 1st instead. (leaving TBL the option to have a bad year after adjusting to life post Stamkos in the future)
TBL
  1. Edmundson, Joel (1 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Steady Eddy traded at the TDL for a late 1st and a prospect to a contender. Adding 6'6 Edmundston known for his reach and consistency will help any number of Contenders.

That said im sending him to TBL
It will likely be Stamkos last year in TBL
I dont see them re-signing him given the cap situation

I also think it the team Eddy and his style would fit best with and potentially help Foote take that next step

This team is still quite bad, especially in goal and on defense. Add Bedard

You're 100% right

I prefer Fantilli myself but i agree
Its just i expected to have to defend the trades
I over explained the absolute heck out of it
So i decided to pass on pointing out Kidney is in waiting as is Fantilli or Bedard with Beck likely turning Pro that year.

Defense is young not bad
Harris isnt great but like Mike Reilly he can hang in as a top pair guy beside a true #1 D(Reilly did in MTL,OTT and BOS so far )
Matheson im not thrilled about but as far as place holders go isnt nothing to complain about

Ghule-Barron is the future
Xhekaj is a Frigging Beast and almost made the roster last year sending him down for a playoff run that turned into a Memorial Cup Final
Mailloux if he can get signed is a good player but is probably a pretty big stretch even in 2023-24

Biggest hole i left for a reason
If Barron cant be that guy to take top pair
We now have 9m and change plus Price's cap hit with a full roster signed.
Both Goaltending and a top RD can be purchased with the Cap left

I shoulda done a 2024-25 post too
Its just the further out you get the trickier it is with Prospect rights on here

I also like Fantili quite a bit, but not over Bedard.
I don't think we will get in the top 3 picks this year, more likely in the 4 to 7 position.
Am curious of where you would play in this lineup , let's say a top 7 pick if he makes the team for next year.

You mean like if we had 7OA instead of 3OA ?
If that's the case it would deffinetly change things a bit for us as we'd take Carlsson or Yager IMO
That would probably allow us to look harder at UFA's the next season whether internal or external

Fantilli i had assumed would have stayed in NCAA 2 years more which woulda brought him in when Evans was going out
I think Carlsson and Yager would require an extra year atleast and even then im not as sure they'd replace Evans on third
This makes MTL look at re-signing either Faksa or Evans to a 1 year deal to play until they can emerge from the AHL to NHL

Only Bedard i could see possibly being ready to walk in straight out the draft and line up in this roster
If we got him by some miracle then i'd probably slot him in where Pitlick is and if that works i wouldnt look at PLD at all .
I'd thank my lucky stars and be greatful to put Bedard and Dach in a situation where they can grow together as Centers
Sharing the role until 1 of the 2 outright make a case to take it full time with Anderson on their Wing as a Protector type

I thought there were 2 or 3 kids that could make the jumps to the NHL right away because they already had "nhl" bodies.

I think that if in 2 years PLD is available and played well and we have the cap room... It's almost impossible for the habs not to get him.
Especially if he is vocal about playing here.

Can Yes
Should No

Galchenyuk we did that with
Kotkanemi we did that with
How did it work out for Marc Bergavin longterm?

I dont see Kent Hughes as being that Oblivious
Everything he's dont to date suggest's he'll develop players as needed.
Slavkovsky for example he said will play pro whether its at the NHL or AHL level
He's not doing what MB did with Chucky and Kotkanemi

If we needed it for this roster 2023-24 deffinately Joshua Roy will be coming off his 2nd QMJHL scoring title IMO and 5th in QMJHL's long history to do it back to back.(Garland/Crosby in this Millenium)
He's a Dynamic and Skilled forward who if he continue's to grow will be one of the top skilled skaters if nothing else in the NHL(like Byron on Barry Bond's Steriods lol)

Riley Kidney will have 1 year in laval at this point
Think of him as a Maritimer version of Gallagher with Size (2 inches more lol)
He's a responsible Center though isntead of a netfront battler like Gally
He's opted out of his last year in Junior to Turn Pro as he and Mysak will lead Laval's top 6

Beyond that is more of a long shot's of Sean Farrel and Oliver Kappen who's are unlikely but close with Owen Beck likely turning AHL pro that following year
They're all Waiver Eligible options and able to move freely as required.

As for PLD you're right
If he wants the money MTL will write the check
Hughes team seems to focus on a lot of size coupled with speed and skill

Check the Season this is built for
Unless you're suggesting you re-sign Cole for more and pass on Edmundston
But this was meant to be Playoff Depth anyways
I had assumed you'd want to upgrade on Fleury

The whole motivation was TBL giving Stamkos a proper send off with another deep push
