1 breakout candidate from every team no rookies

Explications
Criteria- sub 27 player, has been lackluster so far, could have a great season for their team. Not a rookie in my opinion.

Colorado- kaut has 20 games of NHL experience posting 3 points. He has played these 20 games over the course of 3 seasons so if I am correct he is no longer calder eligible making him not a rookie.

Nashville- glass or tolvanen, both are very good candidates for a breakout.

NYR- literally the entire kid line could break out. Laf has the best chance imo.

OTT- I’m not sure if pinto counts as a prospect but I don’t see people regarding to him as such.

VAN- podkolzin and hoglander are both good candidates but podkolzin has the edge imo

WSH- between mcmichael and strome but strome has already broken out imo, he was on pace for like 55 points which is a very decent contributor

Considering Sillinger had one of the better 18 year old seasons in nhl history, was the youngest player in the league by a wide margin and was the only player from his draft to play a full season, he really doesn't meet the criteria of "lackluster". Put Texier up there for Columbus.

I agree with the lackluster numbers given the circumstance but imo tex broke out already. He put up 20 in 36 which isn’t super good but pretty close to what Dylan strome was. 45 point pace is good and I consider a contributor. Columbus was hard to do tbh between those two but I put sillinger as he will likely be one of the best players from his class this coming season with the experience.

The easy answers for COL are Byram and Newhook. If you want to go for a different one I would go Ben Meyers over Kaut. I like Kaut, I think if he were in about half the organizations in the NHL he would already be an NHL regular. Unfortunately for him COL pushed him down during the bubble season when he looked like he had locked up a spot in the bottom six to extend his elc and he hasn’t ever really gotten any traction since.

Hanifin-Andersson
Kylington-weegar
Valimaki-tanev

Zadorov gets traded somewhere. With the addition of weegar the writing is on the wall for one of kylington, valimaki, tanev, or zadorov and I see zadorov being the odd man out. Could also keep him incase weegar leaves but I assume they are all in on resigning him.

You don't trade someone you just signed. Valimaki will be the odd one out

Tbh i could still see the Flames moving Kylington and then running Valimaki while Tanev is out

Zadorov definitely won't be traded. One of Valimaki or Kylington will likely though

I don’t even think Valimaki would be next up. Mackey seems to have passed him for 7D. And Meloche might be the 8D tbh.

I don't see it with Montembault. Maybe in a few years he'll have a good couple of seasons, but there are too many flaws in his game to correct over 1 summer, especially to the point where he'll break out behind a developing defense.

Caufield is probably the most likely candidate, but I'd go with Dvorak. He put up 17 points in his last 21 games, had a career high 56.7% faceoffs, and is an all situations player.
All he needs is consistent wingers with some offensive talent. There are a few candidates, so we'll have to see who he can find chemistry with.

Maybe. Training camp will certainly give us a better picture

I think when all's said and done we may be running
