Why do you believe Toronto are cup contenders? They've not won a single round in the salary cap era. You think they can win 4 this summer? Tampa I understand, Florida I have question marks about too, but not as bad as Toronto. Matt Murray at this stage is going to get a team to the Stanley Cup? They're already over the cap so this iteration of their roster doesn't work. I just don't understand that. They're a lock for the playoffs, but I don't know about a contender

A little bit of a hot take, but I wouldn’t have Florida as a contender. The difference between Huberdeau and Tkachuk was really age and physicality, and not much else. They lose Weegar as well, making an already weak dcore even weaker. Right now Florida has Ekblad and Forsling as their best dmen, and at least in my opinion, that isn’t strong enough to be considered a cup contender. They are also at the cap ceiling, so they really don’t have much room at all to add, so for the Cats to win the cup, Bob will have to play on a level he has never played before and actually play up to his 10mil contract. Add in a coach who is defensively minded to a fault, I see a recipe for disaster. So I am most definitely in a minority here, but I could see a scenario play out where the Cats actually miss the playoffs. As it stands right now, I personally would give the Cats a 50-50 chance at even making the playoffs, but try not to take offense at my assessment.
